The WOOD Magazine Sheet Goods Rack/Cutoff Station combines compact sheet-goods storage with a simple panel-saw-style cutoff side. At 18 inches wide, it is designed to swivel on casters so you can load sheets from a driveway, turn the rack, and move them into a shop. What the rack does
This is a storage rack with a built-in place to support sheet goods for initial breakdown—not a dedicated table saw or a tested lifting device. Casters allow the unit to pivot between loading and unloading positions. On the shorts-rack side, support blocks create a basic panel-saw-style area for cutting down sheet stock. The narrow 18-inch width is a published design dimension, not a guarantee that the rack will fit every shop aisle or doorway.
The plan is a practical candidate for a small shop where a full sheet is awkward to store and the first cuts need a supported work position. It is not a substitute for checking the sheet’s stability, the cutting method, and the finished rack’s suitability for the loads you intend to handle.
Materials and what the plan provides
WOOD’s concise materials summary calls for one sheet of 3/4-inch plywood, one 2×6, and seven 2×4s. The published PDF gives a cutting diagram, exploded view, and assembly instructions. It specifies a 3/4 × 48 × 96-inch plywood sheet and dimensional pine stock, then describes cutting the ends and divider, installing horizontal supports, and adding blocks on the shorts side. The PDF’s ends extend 1/2 inch beyond the front edge to help keep a saw from cutting into the horizontal supports. Use the complete diagram and instructions for dimensions, component placement, and assembly; the material summary alone is not a complete cut list. The plan does not establish a load rating, nor does the source material specify caster size, locking style, or rating. Select casters only after considering the completed rack’s weight, the materials stored on it, floor conditions, and the plan’s mounting details.
How to decide whether it fits your shop
- Measure the route, not just the parking spot. Check doorways, aisle clearance, and turning space for the rack and the largest sheet you expect to move.
- Confirm the workflow. The design rotates to support loading and unloading, while the short-stock side serves as a basic cutting support. Consider whether you can safely handle the intended sheet size with your available tools and help.
- Plan for the floor and mobility. Casters make the unit movable, but the plan does not give a caster specification or a load capacity. Do not assume any particular wheel or loaded capacity is endorsed by the design.
- Use the full plan before cutting material. Follow the drawing for layout and assembly rather than inferring dimensions from the headline materials list.
