Jeddah Tower, the project formerly called Kingdom Tower, is under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and is planned to rise more than 1,000 meters. If it is completed at a height above the Burj Khalifa’s 828 meters, it would become the world’s tallest building. It has not yet taken that title.
Will Jeddah Tower become the world’s tallest building?
It could, but the record depends on the finished building’s confirmed height. Saudi Binladin Group describes the project as planned to exceed 1,000 meters, while the Council on Vertical Urbanism identifies the 828-meter Burj Khalifa as the current tallest skyscraper. The proposed height would put Jeddah Tower above that benchmark if the tower is completed as planned.
Company materials also use the name Jeddah Economic Company Tower. The project is part of Jeddah Economic City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
How far has construction progressed?
Progress reports give separate measurements and dates rather than a single live reading. The Council on Vertical Urbanism reported a height of 454 meters on 4 September 2026. In an October 2026 report, MEED said construction had passed the 116th floor. The floor count should not be converted into a height: the reports describe different milestones.

MEED also reported that more than 6,000 people were working on the tower each day. That is a reported workforce figure, not a fixed staffing level.
When is Jeddah Tower expected to be finished?
MEED reported an expected completion in 2028. That is a target, not a guaranteed completion or handover date; the final schedule may change as construction continues.

What is the tower intended to include?
The developer describes Jeddah Tower as a mixed-use project with offices and business facilities, a hotel, shops, residences, parks, and an observation deck. MEED reported that Jeddah Economic Company planned to release residential units for sale in 2027. That plan does not establish that units are currently available.
How did the project reach its current stage?
Kingdom Holding Company announced an agreement between Jeddah Economic Company and Saudi Binladin Group to resume construction. At the time of that announcement, 63 of the project’s planned 157 floors were complete; those are historical figures, not the current progress count. Saudi Binladin Group identifies itself as undertaking the main construction works.

During a site visit reported by Dar Al-Handasah, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal said, “We have reached a height of 430 meters out of 1000+ m.” The statement dates to approximately August 2026; the Council on Vertical Urbanism subsequently reported 454 meters on 4 September 2026.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the record claim depends on
- Completion: The tower must be built; a construction target does not confer a height record.
- Final height: Its completed height must exceed the Burj Khalifa’s 828 meters, the current comparator cited by the Council on Vertical Urbanism.
- Schedule: The 2028 date is an expected completion reported by MEED, not a confirmed outcome.
Until those conditions are met, Jeddah Tower is a planned contender for the title, not the world’s tallest building.
