This erases Family Hub data and clears stored diagnostic and error-code history, so capture any displayed code and make sure a full wipe—not a screen, power, or network reset—is what you need.
Before you factory-reset: identify the problem
Samsung uses reset-related steps for different parts of the refrigerator. They are not interchangeable: a power reset restarts the refrigerator, a screen reset restarts the Family Hub display, a network reset removes or resets Wi-Fi settings, and a factory data reset erases Family Hub data. Start with the narrowest action that addresses the symptom.

Save error information before erasing
Samsung warns: “Error code history and diagnostic information will be lost during a reset, since this data is stored in the fridge.” Photograph or write down any displayed code first, then use the support guidance for that specific code. A reset may help with the post-outage 88 88 code Samsung describes, but that exception is not a general fix for every error.
Check for Cooling Off mode
If the display shows OF OF or O FF, Samsung identifies this as Cooling Off/Demo mode. Turn off Demo mode rather than factory-resetting the refrigerator. Samsung’s reset guide explains this condition.

Factory-reset the Family Hub
These are the steps in Samsung’s U.S. support instructions. Menu labels may differ by model or software; if an option is missing, check the manual for your refrigerator’s model or contact Samsung support.
- On the Family Hub display, open Settings.
- Select About Family Hub.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Choose RESET.
- When prompted, confirm by choosing RESET again.
- Select Delete all data to complete the reset.
The final confirmation is destructive: it deletes Family Hub data, including the stored diagnostic and error-code history described above. Do not treat this as a routine way to restart a frozen screen. Samsung US Support: How to reset your Samsung refrigerator

Choose a narrower reset when it fits
Restart the Family Hub screen
Samsung describes a separate screen reset using the red switch inside the top of the right door. This restarts the display and is distinct from the Factory data reset menu sequence. Use the screen reset when the issue is with the panel itself, rather than erasing Family Hub data. Samsung US Support
Reset refrigerator power only when appropriate
Samsung’s power-reset procedure is to unplug the refrigerator or switch off its circuit breaker, wait about five minutes, then restore power. Samsung generally does not recommend this except when troubleshooting directs it, or when moving or cleaning the refrigerator. It is not the same as resetting Family Hub data. Samsung US Support

Remove Wi-Fi details or follow post-update guidance
For ordinary saved-network removal on Family Hub, Samsung lists Settings > Wi-Fi, then selecting the network and choosing Disconnect or Forget. For the narrower issue of Family Hub 10 losing Wi-Fi connectivity after its software update, Samsung’s troubleshooting sequence is to update router firmware, reset only the panel’s network settings, and configure a static IP if the problem remains. If SmartThings asks you to reset during setup
A setup or account-registration prompt is a separate case from troubleshooting an error. Samsung says SmartThings may prompt for a reset if the Family Hub is already registered to an account. Follow the app’s on-screen instructions for that setup, including selecting Wi-Fi and completing registration; this does not mean every re-registration requires a full data wipe. When the menu or instructions do not match
The factory-reset path above is from Samsung U.S. support. Exact menu availability is not established for every Family Hub model, software version, or country. Samsung’s Gulf support page offers regional reset guidance, but it should not override the menu path for a U.S. model.
