The Panasonic NN-CD88 combines a microwave, air fryer, convection oven and grill in one 34 L appliance. Its published specifications are versatile, but Panasonic’s performance claims are not independent test results, and the available evidence does not establish how it cooks in everyday use. It may suit a kitchen that needs several cooking modes in one unit; check its dimensions and the functions you will actually use before buying.
What the Panasonic NN-CD88 offers
Panasonic describes the NN-CD88 as a 4-in-1 combination appliance. Its modes are microwave, air fry, convection and grill. The specifications below come from Panasonic’s UK product information and technical documents; they describe stated capabilities, not independently verified cooking performance.
| Feature | Panasonic-published specification |
|---|---|
| Microwave | 1000 W inverter output; seven power levels |
| Air fry | 180–220°C |
| Convection | 40°C and 100–220°C |
| Grill | 1300 W quartz grill |
| Combination cooking | Five combination options |
| Automatic programmes | 30 |
| Cavity capacity | 34 L |
Panasonic’s technical specification for the NN-CD88RS lists 1300 W grill and convection output. The product page lists the convection temperature range; the two figures describe different things, so the temperature range should not be read as a power rating.
How big is the Panasonic NN-CD88?
Panasonic UK lists exterior dimensions of 560 mm wide × 450 mm deep × 343 mm high, a 34 L cavity and a weight of 18 kg. The technical document for the NN-CD88RS gives the same outside dimensions in a different order and an approximate net weight of 17.7 kg. The small weight difference reflects the figures in those separate Panasonic documents; check the exact model documentation for your unit.

Measure the intended counter space, including the depth and any clearance required for ventilation and access. Panasonic’s NN-CD88QS instruction document also lists 560 × 343 × 450 mm and a 34 L volume, but model suffixes and electrical supply can vary by region. Check the identification plate and the manual supplied for the exact regional model before installation. Panasonic notes that specifications may change.
Does the NN-CD88 work as an air fryer?
It has a dedicated air-fry programme with a published range of 180–220°C and an included air-fry basket. Panasonic says the programme delivers the same performance as a conventional air fryer because of its top-fan structure. In its announcement, Panasonic says that claim was based on internal product tests: average cooking time for five dishes was compared with three electric built-in ovens with capacities of 65–71 L. That comparison is Panasonic’s own, not independent testing, and does not establish equivalence with every conventional air fryer.
Panasonic’s announcement also says air frying uses up to 90% less oil than deep frying, attributing the nutrition commentary to Lily Soutter. The announcement does not establish the tested foods or study population behind that figure, so it should not be treated as a measured result for every recipe or as a guaranteed saving from using this model.
What accessories come with the NN-CD88?

How does it compare with other Panasonic combination microwaves?
In Panasonic’s own cooking-style guide, the NN-CD88 is listed as a 34 L model with air fry, convection and grill, but no steam function. Other models in that guide vary in capacity, cooking modes, programme patterns, dimensions and finish. It is a Panasonic-only comparison, not a ranking against the wider appliance market. Decide whether you need steam, then compare the listed modes, capacity and footprint with the models available in your region.
Price and what the evidence does not establish
Panasonic’s 2024 UK announcement gives a historical recommended retail price of £379.99. That is not a current price quote; check retailers for today’s price, stock and applicable warranty terms in your location.
The available manufacturer information does not establish independent cooking results, noise, real-world cleaning effort or long-term reliability. Panasonic’s product page has a reviews section, but a usable review sample was not established here, so there is no basis to summarize customer sentiment.
Is the Panasonic NN-CD88 worth buying?
Consider it if you want a 34 L appliance with microwave, air-fry, convection and grill functions, and have counter space for its 560 × 450 × 343 mm exterior. Its published modes and included basket, rack and tray make the format worth comparing with other combination microwaves. The evidence does not support a claim that it cooks as well as a standalone air fryer in general, or establish current value at any particular price. Base a purchase decision on the current offer, local warranty and whether the listed cooking modes fit your needs.
