Ooni’s move beyond pizza ovens into home dough mixing is the Halo Pro, a spiral mixer listed at $799 in the United States. It launched in April 2025, according to Tom’s Guide. The company’s later Halo Core launch marks its entry into a new product category; “first departure” means Ooni’s move into mixers, not its first non-oven product, since it also sells oven accessories.
What the Ooni Halo Pro does
Halo Pro is a 7.3-quart mixer designed around dough. Ooni says its rotating bowl works with a spiral dough hook and removable breaker bar in a dual-kneading action. The company says that setup develops gluten while limiting excess heat; those are manufacturer claims, not independently established comparisons in the cited material. Ooni also lists whisking and beating attachments, so the mixer is not limited to pizza dough.
Ooni’s product pages present the mixer as a home counterpart to spiral mixers used in professional kitchens. The practical appeal is the combination of a rotating bowl and spiral hook rather than a conventional stand-mixer setup. Whether that approach is worthwhile depends on how often you make dough and the batch size you need.
Halo Pro price, capacity and regional specifications
Ooni’s U.S. product range currently lists Halo Pro at $799, with a 7.3-quart bowl, up to twenty 12-inch pizza dough balls per batch, 58 speed settings and an auto-stop timer. Price and availability can change; the listing is not a universal price.

Specifications differ by market. Ooni Europe lists a 7-litre model with 58 speed settings, a DC motor and 750W at 220V. Tom’s Guide’s U.S.-market review lists 650W. These are region-specific figures, not a single interchangeable wattage specification. See Ooni Europe’s Halo Pro page and Tom’s Guide’s review.
Tom’s Guide also reports the U.S.-reviewed unit weighed 32 pounds and measured 13.5 × 9.9 × 17.2 inches. Its reviewer said the mixer felt well-made, durable and powerful after hands-on use and taste-testing dough. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a comparative test against other spiral mixers.

- Professional Spiral Mixing Technology at Home: Ooni Halo Core uses the same dual-kneading action trusted by professional bakers — spiral dough hook, central breaker bar, and rotating bowl work in sync to build a high-quality gluten network that planetary mixers can't replicate. The result is consistently light, soft, and springy dough every time, from 55% hydration bagels to high-hydration sourdough.
- Counter-Sized Without Compromise: At just 12.28" tall and 23.2 lbs, Halo Core is 25% smaller and 30% lighter than Ooni Halo Pro — compact enough to sit under low shelves without taking over your countertop. Despite its streamlined footprint, it handles batches from 2 up to ten 12" pizza dough balls in a single mix, scaling to whatever you're baking.
- Removable Breaker Bar: Halo Core's removable breaker bar is what sets it apart from fixed spiral mixers — keep it in for powerful dual-kneading with no dough climbing or clumping, or remove it to switch to the angled silicone-edge beater or dual-geared whisk for cake batters, cookies, creams, and glossy meringues. Two high-torque DC motors deliver sustained 300W kneading power without overheating.
- 20 Speed Settings and Easy Cleanup: Halo Core's precision dial goes far beyond the 6-11 speed industry standard, giving you fine control whether gently folding a delicate batter or working through stiff pizza dough. All attachments — bowl, spiral hook, breaker bar, beater, and whisk heads — are fully removable and dishwasher-safe stainless steel for effortless cleanup.
- Built to Last, Backed by Ooni: The high-strength polymer outer body and die-cast aluminium internal core provides rigidity and stability. Engineered for long-term durability, and inbuilt motor protection automatically slows the mix if motors run warm — protecting both the machine and your dough. Every mixer includes a 5-year warranty (register online within 60 days to activate).
Halo Pro versus Halo Core
Halo Core is the smaller, lower-priced sibling—not another name for the $799 Halo Pro. Ooni’s current U.S. listings distinguish them this way:
| Model | U.S. listed price | Bowl capacity | Listed pizza-dough batch | Speed settings |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halo Pro | $799 | 7.3 qt. | Up to twenty 12-inch dough balls | 58, with auto-stop timer |
| Halo Core | $599 | 4.8 qt. | Two to ten 12-inch dough balls | 20 |
Ooni’s Halo Core announcement says it is 25% smaller and 30% lighter than Halo Pro. Those relative-size figures are Ooni’s published claims. The U.S. range page does not provide comparable weight or footprint figures for both models, so batch capacity and price are the clearest listed distinctions.

Choose based on workload: the listed Halo Pro capacity suits larger batches, while Halo Core’s lower listed price and smaller size may be more appropriate where counter space and batch size matter more. Neither capacity figure establishes how a particular dough recipe will perform; dough quantities and results can vary by recipe.

Ooni built its best-known product line around pizza ovens, but the Halo mixers extend that focus to preparing dough at home. Tom’s Guide reports that Halo Pro launched in April 2025. In July 2026, Ooni described Halo Core as its entry into a new product category, and Tom’s Guide called it Ooni’s second mixer.

- 【All-Stainless Steel Construction】Built from high quality stainless steel for superior durability, corrosion resistance, and hygiene—ideal for bakeries, restaurants, and pizzerias.
- 【Effortless Cleaning with Tilt-Head Bowl】The mixing bowl tilts 90° for easy dough removal and thorough cleaning, saving time and reducing residue after each use.
- 【Efficient Cooling & Long-Lasting Performance】Equipped with ventilation ports for optimal heat dissipation, ensuring the 1500W/2HP pure copper motor maintains stable performance during heavy-duty operation.
- 【Upgraded Dual-Direction Spiral Mixing】Features an upgraded twisted-dragon spiral agitator controlled by a dual-direction switch. This design effectively simulates hand kneading for even gluten development and better dough texture.
- 【Enhanced Safety Protection】The automatic shut-off function stops the machine instantly when the safety window is opened, preventing accidental operation and ensuring operator safety.
Ooni founder Kristian Tapaninaho argued that conventional stand mixers are not designed for kneading dough, saying they “stall, overheat, and fail to develop gluten properly.” That is the founder’s rationale for the product, not an independent finding that every standard stand mixer has those problems. Ooni’s launch material likewise characterizes spiral mixing as a professional-kitchen technique.
Who should consider the Halo Pro?
- Frequent dough makers: A dedicated spiral mixer may be relevant if you regularly make pizza dough or other doughs and want a machine centered on kneading.
- Large-batch pizza cooks: Ooni lists capacity for up to twenty 12-inch dough balls per batch, making it the larger-capacity option in the Halo range.
- Occasional or smaller-batch users: Halo Core’s 4.8-quart bowl and lower U.S. listed price may fit better if you do not need Halo Pro’s listed batch capacity.
- Buyers comparing mixing performance: The available hands-on review is positive, but it is not a direct independent comparison with other spiral mixers. Treat Ooni’s dough-quality claims as product claims rather than proven advantages.
Sources and availability
Ooni’s U.S. mixer range is the source for current listed prices, capacities and speed settings. Its Halo Core announcement provides the company’s product-category and relative-size statements. Ooni’s July 2026 announcement said Halo Core would be available from August 4 through Ooni.com and named William Sonoma, Target, Crate & Barrel and Home Depot. That was a launch-period availability statement; current stock at Ooni or those retailers is not established here.
