Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower is under construction and planned to exceed 1,000 metres. The separate “Mile High Tower” is a 1,609-metre concept listed as a vision, not the active construction project. The distinction matters: the mile-high figure does not describe Jeddah Tower.
Two projects, two very different statuses

These records can cause confusion because “Kingdom Tower” appears as another name on the Mile High Tower entry, while Jeddah Tower itself was previously known by that name. For the current construction project, use Jeddah Tower; reserve “Mile High Tower” for the older vision. The two records are maintained by the Council on Vertical Urbanism’s Mile High Tower listing and its Jeddah Tower listing.
How tall is Jeddah Tower now?
Dar Al-Handasah, the architect of record, reported on 31 July 2026 that the main tower had reached 430 m and its 106th floor. During that site visit, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal said, “We have reached a height of 430 meters out of 1000+ m,” as quoted in Dar Al-Handasah’s update.
A separate construction update should not be mistaken for the main tower’s height: Brogan Group reported on 6 July 2026 that the site’s CAS Common Tower, an auxiliary structure, had reached 307.5 m and level 76 after a climbing cycle. It is a different structure from Jeddah Tower’s main building; see Brogan Group’s report.

When is Jeddah Tower expected to be finished?
The Council on Vertical Urbanism’s project record gives a 2028 completion year. Treat that as a projected schedule entry, not a guaranteed opening or completion date. The same record lists a 2011 proposal year, a 2013 construction start, 167 above-ground floors and an observatory at 652 m. These are project-record details, not confirmation that every element or date is final.
What is the tower being built for?
Saudi Binladin Group describes a mixed-use development with residential, office, hospitality and retail space, plus a high-level observation deck. Its project page identifies Jeddah Economic Company as the client and Saudi Binladin Group as undertaking the main construction works: Saudi Binladin Group’s Jeddah Tower project page.

Thornton Tomasetti’s project description lists hospitality, serviced apartments, condominiums, office space and a viewing platform, with a total project area of 530,000 m². The engineering firm describes a viewing platform on the 157th floor; the Council on Vertical Urbanism separately lists an observatory at 652 m. These are claims from different project sources and should not be treated as interchangeable specifications.

A tapering plan shaped around wind
Thornton Tomasetti describes a three-legged plan that tapers continuously as the building rises. Its account says computational structural modelling and extensive wind-tunnel testing informed the design, helping address high winds and control building movement. For a structure this tall, wind response is a central design concern rather than a finishing detail.

A deep foundation system
The same engineering project page describes a 5 m-thick raft foundation supported by 270 bored piles. Each pile is 1.8 m in diameter and reaches depths of up to 105 m, according to Thornton Tomasetti.
Vertical transportation
The Council on Vertical Urbanism lists 59 elevators and a top speed of 10 m/s for Jeddah Tower. Thornton Tomasetti describes double-decker lifts. These figures describe the project as recorded or presented by those sources; they are not evidence that the completed operating system has been tested at those specifications.
