What led to the Wadala landslide and wall collapse?
Residents alleged that excavation and construction at the neighboring site had loosened the soil. Heavy rain was also reported as the immediate context for the failure. Those accounts identify concerns raised at the time, not a verified engineering conclusion: the coverage reviewed does not establish that rain alone, construction alone, or any specific combination of factors caused the wall to collapse.
Antop Hill police asked the BMC Building Proposals department to clarify what had led to the collapse. The reports reviewed do not provide a conclusive final investigative finding.
