To register a Samsung washer on Samsung’s US website, sign in to a Samsung account, open the product Registration page, choose the product category, enter the requested serial or model number, and select Register. To control a compatible washer in the SmartThings app, add it separately by scanning its QR code or selecting the device in the app. Account registration and SmartThings setup are related, but they are not the same task.
Choose the registration you need

Samsung describes account registration as helping owners stay up to date on system updates and recall notices, access device-specific troubleshooting, and manage warranty status. That description is not a guarantee of coverage, service approval, or a particular notification.
What to prepare
- Your Samsung account sign-in details for the US website registration flow.
- The washer’s serial number or model number, as requested by the screen. Samsung provides number-finding guidance because the identifier’s location can vary by model.
- For a My Products serial-number confirmation step, use the number on the washer itself, not the box. Samsung notes that visually similar characters can also be confused.
- If you want SmartThings, have the app available and check that your washer supports connection. The exact menus depend on the washer and app version.
Register the washer on Samsung’s US website
- Sign in to your Samsung account, or create one if needed.
- Open Samsung’s product registration support page and follow its link to product Registration.
- Select the product category for the washer.
- Enter the serial or model number requested by the registration screen. Use Samsung’s number-finding instructions if you are unsure where to look.
- Select Register and follow any further on-screen prompts. Samsung’s registration screens can change, and not every flow necessarily asks for the same fields.
After registration, sign in to My Products to view account-managed products. Samsung says its My Products flow may ask you to confirm the last digits of the serial number; use the identifier from the washer itself for that check.
Add a compatible washer to SmartThings
SmartThings setup is optional and separate from adding product details to your Samsung account. Samsung’s support guide describes adding an appliance by scanning its QR code in SmartThings or choosing it from the app’s device list. A Samsung Laundry Combo manual also describes responding to a new-device prompt, selecting Add, or manually choosing the device type and model when it is not listed automatically. These screens and instructions may not apply to every washer.

- Open SmartThings and begin adding a device.
- Scan the washer’s QR code if the app offers that option, or browse the device list.
- If the washer is not detected or listed, try manual selection by device type and model when that option is available for your app and washer.
- Follow the app’s prompts to finish setup. If the app does not offer a compatible device or the steps do not match your washer, consult Samsung’s support information for your model.

For US accounts, Samsung says registered-product warranty information can be viewed under My Products. The company also notes that proof of purchase may be requested. Its support guide says website service requests require a Samsung account and product registration; follow the account and service prompts for the product.

Do not assume that registration is a universal condition of warranty coverage. Warranty requirements depend on the country and the terms for the specific washer. For example, Samsung New Zealand’s washing machine and dryer warranty document for New Zealand says registration is not necessary to make a claim under that warranty, although it may help processing. Check the warranty applicable to your location and product.

If the washer will not register
- Recheck the serial or model number against the label on the washer; similar-looking characters can be mistaken.
- If the website requests serial confirmation, use the number on the appliance rather than the packaging.
- Use Samsung’s linked number-finding and registration troubleshooting guidance if the identifier is unclear or the product cannot be registered.
- If your immediate goal is SmartThings control, use the app’s QR scan or device/model selection route rather than treating app setup as a substitute for account registration.
