If your Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher is holding water, leaving white residue, smelling bad, or refusing to start, begin with basic checks and the manual for your exact model. “Ultra Wash” covers multiple Kenmore dishwashers, so filter designs, controls, parts, and repair instructions are not necessarily interchangeable.

- Confirm the cycle completed. If it stopped before finishing, use the matching manual’s instructions to resume the cycle.
- Check the disposer connection. If the dishwasher drains through a food waste disposer, confirm that the disposer’s inlet knockout plug was removed.
- Inspect the drain path. Look for kinks in the drain hose and food obstructions in the drain or disposer.
- Check household power. Inspect the relevant fuse or circuit breaker.
- Clean the filter area as directed by your manual. The cited guide advises cleaning the Ultra Wash filters and checking for food buildup beneath them. Follow your model’s instructions for access and reassembly.
If the water remains after these checks, consult the model-specific manual or a qualified repair provider. Do not order a pump based only on standing water; the symptom has not established which component, if any, has failed.
White film or spots on dishes and the tub
A Kenmore use and care guide associates white residue on the tub or glassware with hard-water mineral deposits. It suggests regular filter cleaning and rinse aid as maintenance steps; neither is a guaranteed fix for every cause of residue.

Dishwasher has an odor
A Kenmore use and care guide mentions commercial dishwasher cleaner as an option for odors and for monthly maintenance in hard-water conditions. Follow the cleaner’s directions and your matching dishwasher manual. Cleaner is a maintenance product, not a remedy for a blocked drain or a failed component; if the machine is not draining properly, work through the drainage checks first.

Dishwasher will not start or the controls act unexpectedly
There is no single verified reset or start-button sequence that applies to every Kenmore Ultra Wash model. Try these non-model-specific checks before seeking repair:
- Make sure the door is fully closed.

- Verify the appropriate household fuse or circuit breaker.

Parts and service depend on the exact model
Find the complete model number before looking for a replacement filter, hose, pump, or other part. A Sears PartsDirect listing for model 66512723K310 provides examples for that model only; its part numbers should not be treated as compatible with all Ultra Wash dishwashers.
When arranging service or evaluating a part, confirm exact model compatibility, whether the fault has actually been diagnosed, any applicable warranty coverage, and the repair provider’s qualifications. If the basic checks do not resolve the problem, a model-specific manual or qualified technician is a safer next step than guessing at a component.
