Italian master clockmaker Alessandro Rigotto conceived and handcrafted it for BCHH, developing the base movement and astronomical complication in-house, according to a 2022 feature by Monochrome Watches.
How the clock combines timekeeping and astronomy
The Celestial Infinity separates its functions into two asymmetric modules inspired by jet-engine forms. One displays hours and minutes through a mechanical pendulum clock; the other presents a rotating star disc. The result is both a timepiece and a small mechanical planetarium, rather than a conventional clock with a decorative celestial face.
The 2022 Monochrome Watches feature describes the clock’s construction and specifications; it does not report an independent accuracy or reliability test. Its technical and performance figures should therefore be read as specifications reported by that article.
How the movement works
The feature reports a spring-driven movement with an invar pendulum, compensation tube, and Graham deadbeat escapement. Its reported power reserve is ten days, and its rate is 8,180 vibrations per hour (vph).

For the motion work, Rigotto used epicyclic gearing informed by the Ferguson mechanical paradox. Monochrome attributes this explanation to Rigotto: the arrangement “avoids the need for a 12 to 1 gear train between the hour and minute hand”. The feature presents this as an explanation of the mechanism, not as a separately documented interview transcript.
How the rotating celestial display works
The smaller astronomical dial is reported to measure 30.8 cm across and to rotate once every 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds—the length of a sidereal day. It depicts the constellations visible in the night sky over Milan. The disc carries 455 diamonds with a reported combined weight of 8.03 carats.

Because the display turns at the sidereal-day rate, it tracks the apparent rotation of the stars rather than matching a 24-hour solar day. That is what gives the second module its planetarium-like character.
Size, materials and placement
Monochrome Watches reports overall dimensions of 68 cm long, 57.5 cm high, and 52 cm deep, with a weight of 26 kg. The two wooden cones are asymmetric and leather-covered; a wing-shaped base supports the structure. Glass plates sit at both ends of the time-display module.

Those dimensions and weight make placement a practical consideration: this is a substantial tabletop object, not a small mantel clock. A suitable surface needs enough area and must be able to support 26 kg, with additional room around the clock for access and visibility.
