A Samsung washer’s 4C error usually means it is not getting water at the expected rate. Check the household supply and open tap first, then inspect the inlet hoses and clean the inlet mesh filter. If the code returns after these checks, contact Samsung Support rather than replacing parts based on the code alone.
What the 4C error means
Samsung UK describes 4C/4E as a detected water-supply problem, commonly related to low water pressure or flow. Samsung’s general UK information-code page groups 4C, 4E and E1 under water not being supplied. The exact code label can vary by model and market, so use the manual for your washer if its display or guidance differs.
Samsung UK gives a water-pressure range of 0.5–8 bar in its support guidance. Treat that as UK manufacturer guidance, not a universal specification for every model or country. Samsung UK: 4E/4C troubleshooting
Check the water supply and hoses safely
- Turn off and unplug the washer before moving it or disconnecting a hose. Keep the appliance unplugged while accessing its water connections.
- Confirm water is available and the washer’s supply tap is fully open. If the household supply is interrupted or a tap is frozen, resolve that first.
- Inspect the inlet hose. Straighten kinks and look for blockages or visible damage. Do not keep using a damaged hose; arrange an appropriate replacement or service.
- Check hot and cold connections if your model uses both. Match each hose to the washer’s inlet labels and manual. Samsung US notes that swapped lines can cause related fill errors on some models; this is not a universal explanation for every 4C error. Samsung US: washer information codes
Clean the inlet mesh filter
A clogged mesh screen can restrict incoming water. Samsung recommends periodic cleaning; its UK guidance says at least twice a year. Follow your model’s manual for access and reconnection instructions.

- Turn off the water supply and unplug the washer.
- Disconnect the inlet hose as directed in the manual, taking care to manage any water in the hose.
- Gently remove the mesh filter and rinse it under running water. Samsung Pakistan describes using a toothbrush or similar small brush to clean the screens; avoid damaging the mesh.
- Reinstall the filter, reconnect the hose securely, and turn the water supply back on.
- Check the connection for leaks before starting a cycle.

Check the detergent drawer
Samsung UK also identifies a blocked detergent drawer as a possible contributor to a 4C check code. Remove the drawer according to the manual, clear any obstruction, clean it if needed, and reinstall it.
Consider the drain hose only with model-specific instructions
If the error remains, Samsung Gulf includes drain-hose placement and siphoning among possible checks. Installation details differ by washer and regional guidance, so do not apply a measurement from another model’s instructions. Use the installation section of your exact manual. Restart the washer and decide whether to request service
After restoring the hoses, filter, drawer and water supply, start a cycle and see whether the washer fills normally. If controls briefly do not respond after an information code, Samsung’s US guidance says some models may disable buttons for three minutes; wait and consult the model manual rather than forcing controls.
Contact Samsung Support or request service if the code persists after the basic checks, or if you find a leak, damaged hose or ongoing low pressure. The code alone does not establish which internal part has failed, and model-specific diagnosis requires the washer’s model information and further assessment.
