One meter spans 125 standard LEGO System stud intervals: the studs are spaced 8 mm centre-to-centre, and 1,000 mm รท 8 mm = 125. If a row has a stud at each end of the full span, it contains 126 stud centres.
How to calculate studs per meter
Use the centre-to-centre spacing between adjacent studs, not the diameter of a stud:
1,000 mm per meter รท 8 mm per stud interval = 125 intervals
The 8 mm pitch is a nominal standard LEGO System measurement, not an official LEGO tolerance guarantee. Brick Dimensions lists the pitch as centre-to-centre and gives a separate 4.8 mm stud diameter; the two measurements describe different things. Brick Dimensions: LEGO Stud Dimensions (mm, inches, cm). BrickLink Studio Help also states that one stud is 0.8 cm, or 8 mm: Model dimensions.

Intervals versus studs in a row
โ125 studs per meterโ is often used as shorthand, but technically 125 is the number of spaces between stud centres across one meter. If the span starts and ends with a stud, those 125 intervals connect 126 studs. For a length that must fit within a build, account for where the endpoints fall rather than treating the interval count as the number of individual studs.
Scope: standard LEGO System spacing
This conversion applies to the standard LEGO System grid. It should not automatically be applied to DUPLO or other product lines, which can use different scales. LEGOโs baseplate information distinguishes regular-brick baseplates from a DUPLO baseplate, while BrickLink notes that LEGO lines can have different stud dimensions: LEGO Baseplates and BrickLink: Item Dimensions – Stud Dimensions and Other Standards.

The result is a grid conversion, not the outside measurement of a physical brick or wall. Brick edges sit slightly inside the stud grid, so use the stud-centre spacing for layout calculations and consult the relevant part dimensions when the outside footprint matters.
