They describe full-size ground-effect craft development and separate model hovercraft kits—not a product sold under the Hoverwing or hoverplane name. The distinction matters: a hovercraft rides on an air cushion, while a Hoverwing is a winged craft concept designed to use ground effect.
Is a Hoverwing kit the same as a model hovercraft kit?
No. In the engineering sources, “Hoverwing” refers to ground-effect craft concepts. Goldstein Hovercraft lists model construction kits named GH-1, GH-2, GH-C and RC GH-2; its page does not identify them as Hoverwing or hoverplane kits. They may be relevant alternatives if you want to build a small hovercraft, but they are not a verified match for a winged ground-effect model.
What is the difference between a hovercraft and a Hoverwing?
Hovercraft
A conventional hovercraft rides on pressurised air contained by a flexible skirt. Ryland Research describes adding aerofoils and control surfaces to address some limitations of hovercraft operation and to support ground-effect flight. This is the company’s account of its development approach, not independent performance validation. Ryland Research’s Hoverwing development page explains its rationale.
Ground-effect craft
Ground effect occurs when a wing flies close to the ground or water and additional positive pressure builds beneath it. A Hoverwing is therefore a winged craft concept, not simply another name for a skirted hovercraft. A model intended to demonstrate ground effect would have a different purpose and configuration from a basic hovercraft construction kit.

What model hovercraft kits are identified?
Goldstein Hovercraft describes four kits. The features below are as stated on the manufacturer’s page; check its live listing for current price, stock and included accessories. None is identified there as a Hoverwing or hoverplane kit. Goldstein Hovercraft’s kit listings provide the current product details.

The manufacturer describes the kits as configurable, with detachable parts that can be rebuilt and illustrated step-by-step instructions. The page does not establish replacement-part availability or ongoing support, so confirm those points with the seller if they matter to your project.

Are there Hoverwing scale models or development projects?
Ryland Research
Ryland Research says it built a 1/6-scale development model before full-scale development and that current model trials use computer-generated aerofoils. Its page invites enquiries about buying an RC scale model, but does not list a purchasable kit or establish that one is currently for sale.
The company labels its approximate full-scale development figures “CURRENT SPECIFICATIONS (SUBJECT TO REFINEMENT)”: about 5.4 m length, about 5.6 m wingspan, 140–150 hp, about 100 km/h design speed and 1–3 m design cruise height. These are provisional project figures, not specifications for a model kit.

Fischer Flugmechanik
Fischer Flugmechanik says a scaled-down Hoverwing-2VT was built and tested to prove the theoretical concept behind its proposed Hoverwing-80. Its project page gives the Hoverwing-80’s design figures as 34.6 m length, 31.9 m span, 1,511 kW cruise power, 30,214 kg displacement and 100 knots. They describe a proposed full-size craft, not an available kit. Fischer Flugmechanik’s Hoverwing-80 project page presents those design data.
Historical Hoverwing 2-VT test results
A 2001 paper by Hanno Fischer reports that the Hoverwing 2-VT had accumulated 127 take-offs, 24 hours 36 minutes of flight time and 2,700 km flown during the reported test period. It also reports a maximum speed of 135 km/h and cruising speed of 110 km/h at 53 kW. These are historical paper-reported results, not current product or kit specifications. Hanno Fischer’s 2001 EAGES paper contains the test figures.

How to check whether a listing is the right kind of kit
If you find a product advertised as a Hoverwing or hoverplane kit, verify what it actually is before buying. A product name alone does not establish that it is a winged ground-effect model.

- Check what assembly means: Look for the construction level, instructions and whether parts can be reconfigured or rebuilt.
- Confirm what is included: Check propulsion, radio-control equipment, batteries and charger separately; the RC GH-2 listing, for example, has versions with and without charger and battery.
- Ask about support: Confirm replacement parts and seller support rather than assuming they are available.
- Verify the seller and current availability: The identified listings and development pages do not establish a purchasable Hoverwing kit.
