Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf your Hisense dehumidifier will not start, is collecting little water, or has stopped draining, begin with the simple checks: power, bucket placement, humidity setting, filter, and hose. Hisense troubleshooting varies by model, so find the model number and use that unit’s manual before trying button sequences, pump instructions, or interpreting an error code.
Find your model number and matching manual
Hisense organizes support materials by product model. Check the rating label on your dehumidifier for its model number, then use the matching Hisense support page or manual. This matters because pump features, drain connections, controls, and error-code guidance differ across models.
If your Hisense dehumidifier will not start
- Check power. Make sure the unit is switched on and plugged directly into a grounded three-prong outlet. Check whether a household fuse has blown or a circuit breaker has tripped. If the electrical problem continues, Hisense advises contacting an electrician.
- Check the bucket. Empty it if full, then reinstall it fully and align it correctly.
- Check the float. Confirm the water-level float is snapped into place. The bucket and float must be positioned properly for the unit to operate.
Do not remove the ground prong or use an adapter or extension cord. If the unit still will not operate after the power and bucket checks, contact Hisense for warranty service. See the Hisense use-and-care guide for the model-specific instructions.
If it runs but collects little or no water
Check the humidity setting and room conditions
A unit set to Continuous or Super Dry can keep running while collecting little or no water when the room is already relatively dry. Check the selected mode and the room’s humidity before assuming the dehumidifier has failed.

Inspect the air filter
A dirty or obstructed filter can reduce performance. Clean it as directed in your model’s manual; routine cleaning steps are below.
Allow for automatic defrost
If the coils ice over, automatic defrost may stop the compressor while leaving the fan running. The compressor cycles back on after the unit senses a suitable temperature. This temporary pause is part of the described defrost operation, not proof by itself of a fault.

If the outlet air feels warm
Hisense describes warm outlet air as normal during operation. Treat it as a fault only if it comes with another problem, such as poor dehumidification or an error code, and troubleshoot that symptom separately.
If the bucket-full light stays on or the unit stops
- Turn off and unplug the dehumidifier before removing the bucket.
- Empty the bucket and check that it is not damaged or obstructed.
- Reinstall it fully, aligned in its proper position.
- Check that the water-level float is snapped into place.
A misaligned bucket or misplaced float can keep the indicator on even after emptying. Refer to the matching manual if the light remains on after reseating both parts.

If the pump or drain hose does not work
For pump drainage
First confirm that your model has a pump function; Hisense labels pump instructions for pump-equipped models only. Check that the hose is connected securely and is not kinked, pinched, or blocked. Some models require pump activation, and pumping may take time while water collects. For applicable models, the manual also describes cleaning a separate water filter. Unplug the unit before cleaning and follow the exact model’s procedure. See the pump-model manual for its instructions.
For gravity drainage
- Turn off and unplug the dehumidifier before setting up the drain hose.
- Connect the hose securely to the unit’s drain outlet.
- Route it to a suitable drain that is lower than the dehumidifier.
- Keep the hose flat and free of kinks, pinches, or blockages so water can flow.
For the North American models covered by Hisense’s guide, the garden-hose connector is 3/4-inch diameter, straight (non-tapered) thread, with 11.5 threads per inch; the hose is sold separately. These dimensions do not establish compatibility with every Hisense model, so check your manual before buying a garden hose for gravity draining.

Choose the drain method your model supports
| Method | How it works | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Bucket | Water collects in the removable bucket, which you empty manually. | Keep the bucket correctly seated and empty it when full. |
| Gravity drain | A hose carries water to a lower drain. | Confirm the connection and hose fit your model; keep the hose unkinked and routed downhill. |
| Pump drain | A built-in pump moves water through a hose. | Use only if your model has a pump; check its activation and cleaning instructions in the manual. |
If the display shows an error code
Record the exact code and model number, then check the matching manual. Hisense’s general use-and-care guide says, “If the dehumidifier displays an error code, please contact the Hisense customer service.” A separate manual for a pump-equipped design gives limited guidance for EB: check for a kinked or pinched hose and clean the water filter. It directs owners to customer service for other codes. That guidance is not a universal error-code key; do not apply a code meaning from another model.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to clean the air filter
- Check the removable air filter every two weeks, as the reviewed Hisense guide recommends.
- If it is dirty, vacuum it or wash it in warm water with mild detergent.
- Let the filter dry completely before reinstalling it.
Do not wash the air filter in a dishwasher or use chemical cleaners. Filter-reminder controls and reset intervals can vary by model, so use the matching manual for reset instructions. Some pump-equipped models also have a separate water filter; do not assume your unit has that assembly or use another model’s cleaning steps.
