It makes most sense if your home has enough sealed flooring to justify a separate floor washer: it is not designed for carpets or rugs, and TechRadar says it does not replace a dry-cleaning vacuum. Gtech’s UK page listed it at £349.99 with preorder delivery expected in the week commencing 2 November 2026, as of 8 October 2026; check the current listing before buying.
What the Gtech Orca WD01 does
Gtech describes the Orca as a cordless cleaner that vacuums and mops sealed hard floors in one pass. Its design uses a motorised mopping roller and separate tanks for clean and waste water. The package also includes a charging base; Gtech lists an LCD display, voice assistant and self-cleaning cycle. These features make the Orca a dedicated floor-washing appliance rather than a general-purpose vacuum.
Gtech also describes an electrolysing process that produces sanitised water and says it eliminates bacteria, viruses, spores and odours. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently verified efficacy findings in the available review evidence. Gtech’s UK product page has the company’s product description.

For a buyer choosing between models, compare runtime in the mode you expect to use, rather than relying on the longest advertised figure. Tank capacity, weight, charging time, maintenance needs and surface restrictions also affect day-to-day suitability.
Which floors can you clean with the Orca?
Gtech lists sealed hard flooring as suitable. The manual gives vinyl, tiles and sealed wood as examples, and says to use the appliance indoors on non-carpeted sealed hard floors. It is not designed for carpet or rugs. The brush bar may damage some surfaces, so a floor being hard does not automatically make it suitable.

- Test the cleaner on an inconspicuous area first.
- Remove hard debris before cleaning.
- Do not leave the rotating roller in one place for an extended time.
These precautions come from the Gtech WD01 manual. They matter particularly for sealed wood and other finishes where the flooring maker may specify limits on moisture or mechanical cleaning.
Cleaning solution and replacement parts
The manual says to use only Gtech-recommended cleaning solution and not to mix it with other cleaning substances. It also restricts use to parts and accessories supplied or recommended by Gtech. Do not assume that a generic floor detergent or an unverified replacement roller is compatible; check the manufacturer’s current guidance for the exact WD01 item.

Does the Orca make sense for your home?
It may suit you if…
- You have a meaningful amount of sealed hard flooring and want vacuuming and mopping in one pass.
- You value cordless operation and separate clean- and waste-water tanks.
- You are comfortable with a dedicated appliance that needs cleaning and manufacturer-approved consumables or parts.
Look elsewhere or plan to keep a dry vacuum if…
- Your home is mostly carpeted or relies on rugs that need regular cleaning.
- You want one appliance to handle all floor types.
- You do not have enough hard flooring to justify a separate washer.
