The WOOD Magazine Picture-perfect Multi-frame plan is for a wall-mounted frame with four smaller photo frames fitted inside one larger frame. Its downloadable construction PDF supplies the dimensions and build sequence; use that document as the authority for the project rather than treating the measurements here as independently tested recommendations.
What the plan builds
The illustrated project combines four small photo frames in a larger cherry frame, with a beadboard back behind the assembly. The small frames hold photos between glass and MDF backs. WOOD Magazine describes the design as adaptable: builders can add or remove photo spaces by changing the parts and dimensions.
The project page was published March 19, 2021. Its linked construction plan is PDF DP-00950, which carries a Meredith Corporation 2012 copyright notice. The article credits WOOD Magazine Staff; the plan names Jeremy Cranfill of Connersville, Indiana, as the project designer.

For sourcing, the clearest exact-fit item is four pieces of picture-frame glass, each 1/8 inch thick and 5 × 7 inches. The plan says its glass came from a hobby store, but does not identify a current seller, price, or specific product. Confirm thickness and dimensions when buying; “5 × 7” alone does not establish that a piece matches the plan.
How to build from the downloadable plan
Use the DP-00950 construction PDF for the full sequence, diagrams, and dimensions. Its listed operations include tablesaw work with a stacked dado blade and rip blade, miter cuts, jigsaw work, and drilling with small bits. It also describes a small-parts miter-jig option.

- The plan uses glue and painter’s tape to hold frame members during assembly.
- It calls for sanding to 220 grit before finishing.
- The example finish is Danish oil followed by two coats of satin water-based polyurethane; the beadboard back is spray-painted.
- Follow the original plan and the tool manufacturers’ instructions when selecting a safe setup for cuts, dadoing, drilling, and small-part handling.
Adjusting the number of photo spaces
The plan’s method for changing capacity is based on the illustrated design. For each additional space, add a small-frame back, a pair of top and bottom pieces, and two side pieces. Extend the large-frame top and bottom and the beadboard back by 9 inches for each added space. To make fewer spaces, subtract the same parts and corresponding 9-inch increments as directed by the plan.
This is a dimensional adjustment, not a separate tested design: consult the PDF’s diagrams and construction sequence before cutting, especially when adapting the layout.
