What size wood can the 16-inch saw cut?
The listed bar and chain are 16 inches. RYOBI says the saw “tackles cuts up to 28””; treat that as the manufacturer’s stated capacity, not a guarantee for every tree, species, cut, or operator. A maximum cut-size claim is not a universal safe-work recommendation. Consider the material, work conditions, your experience and the operator manual before deciding whether this saw is suitable.
If your expected work regularly involves larger material, compare RYOBI’s 18- and 20-inch 40V models as well as the 16-inch option. The available information establishes the different bar sizes, not a tested performance ranking or a recommendation that one model is best for a given job.

How long does the battery last?
RYOBI advertises “Over 60 Cuts per Charge” with a 40V 4Ah battery. That is a manufacturer claim; the listing does not provide an independent test method or enough conditions to predict how many cuts you will get in your own work. The stated figure should not be treated as guaranteed runtime or as a direct measure of hours of operation.
RYOBI also says its 40V HP technology delivers more power than a 40cc gas chainsaw. This is the company’s comparison, not an independently verified, like-for-like test result.

What upkeep and safety details should you check?
Chain and bar oil
RYOBI lists the RY16C1 16-inch replacement chain and RYBIO24 24-ounce biodegradable bar-and-chain oil alongside the saw. Confirm replacement-chain fit and the oil specification in the model’s operator manual before buying or using accessories. The listed bottle size is not a recommended service interval or an estimate of how long the oil will last.
Chain brake and safe operation
RYOBI describes the saw’s chain brake as being “For Kickback Protection.” A chain brake is a feature, not a guarantee that kickback or injury will be prevented. Read the model-specific operator manual and obtain appropriate chainsaw safety training before operating the saw.
