Choose a cart or wagon if you need to move the reel around the property; consider a free-standing or wood-post model when a fixed wall mount is impractical. Then check your hose diameter and length against ELEY’s capacity figures.

What does the ELEY 1041 wall-mount reel offer?
Pull direction and installation fit
The 1041 is ELEY’s wall-mount model and can be assembled for either parallel or perpendicular hose pull. That choice affects how much clearance the reel needs and the route the hose takes as you unwind it. Plan the hose path and check the wall area before installation.

ELEY lists aluminum-alloy construction, lead-free brass components among its drinking-water-contact materials, a 6.5-foot 5/8-inch inlet hose, and a 10-year advertised warranty. The product page says mounting hardware is included for traditional wood-frame or masonry installation. Can the wall-mount model become free-standing?
ELEY says a 1041 wall-mount reel can be converted to free-standing by changing the plate, and that the reverse conversion is similarly simple. Converting a wall or free-standing model to a wheeled cart is a different proposition: ELEY support says it requires more than 20 components and costs more than buying a new cart model. Check the conversion and replacement guidance before buying with a future conversion in mind.

How much hose does an ELEY reel hold?

What does the ELEY hose reel warranty cover?
ELEY’s Warranty Policy covers reels and watering tools for 10 years from the purchase invoice date. The stated remedy is replacement of the defective component—not an unconditional full-product replacement. Powder-coat paint has a separate one-year warranty.
The policy lists exclusions that include freeze damage, constant water pressure, certain environmental corrosion, UV fading, improper use, and mounting on road-going vehicles or trailers. It also requires that water pressure be shut off at the source after each use: “Water pressure must be shut off at the source after each use.”

Care in freezing weather and salt air
ELEY advises draining water before freezing temperatures. Its guidance describes the reels as freeze-resistant, not freeze-proof; freeze damage is excluded under the warranty. For salt-air exposure, review ELEY’s warranty guidance and follow its recommendations for protecting the reel.
When does a free-standing reel need extra support?
ELEY says the 1042 free-standing model has a broad base with rubber feet, but it may slide on loose mulch, rock, or gravel. A solid surface or anchoring may be appropriate in those conditions. If the reel will stay in one place, assess the ground where it will sit rather than treating the free-standing label as a guarantee of stability on every surface.
