PerthNow reported on 29 August 2024 that Perth startup Edible Cutlery had placed its edible spoons, sporks and straws with local retailers The Herdsman, La Vida Vegan and Boat Shed Market. That is a historical report of availability, not confirmation that any store stocks the range today.
What was Edible Cutlery?
PerthNow identified Edible Cutlery as a Perth startup founded in 2022 by Abhinav Nagaraj and Nishanth Ananth. Its reported range comprised plant-based spoons, sporks and straws designed to be eaten after use. The flavours listed were chocolate, vanilla, oregano, Peri Peri, cheesy garlic and classic.
The report did not publish ingredient lists, allergen or dietary information, nutrition data, certifications, or product testing. The description alone therefore does not establish whether a particular item suits a dietary need or how it performs with hot or wet foods.
Where was the range sold in Perth?
The 29 August 2024 PerthNow report named three retailers carrying the products at the time: The Herdsman, La Vida Vegan and Boat Shed Market. It does not establish current stock, whether those retailers still carry the range, or whether the startup is currently operating. Contact a retailer or the company directly to check availability before making a trip.

What can be concluded about its environmental claims?
Edible Cutlery’s co-founder described the range as part of an effort to reduce cutlery waste, but the news report provides no measured waste-reduction result or life-cycle assessment. It also does not provide the comparative information needed to establish environmental superiority over conventional disposable cutlery, such as product durability, packaging, end-of-life outcomes or independently assessed impacts. Treat the sustainability rationale as the company’s stated aim, not a verified environmental finding.
