How to choose a Lambro duct, pipe, fitting, or vent
Start with the job the system must perform. A duct for bathroom exhaust, a range hood, a clothes dryer, or fresh-air intake may have different requirements. Similar-looking products are not automatically interchangeable. Use the exact product instructions and any applicable code to confirm suitability.

1. Identify the application
Write down whether the duct will carry bathroom exhaust, kitchen exhaust, dryer exhaust, fresh air, or another HVAC supply or return. Then confirm that the product documentation names that use. A general category label such as “air connector” is not enough to establish that a product is suitable for a particular appliance.
2. Match dimensions and connections
Check the appliance outlet, existing duct, transition, fitting, and termination dimensions. Lambro lists multiple diameters and configurations, so verify each connection rather than assuming two parts fit because their nominal sizes seem similar. A transition changes duct size; Lambro’s kitchen duct page cautions that undersized range-hood ducting can reduce hood efficiency. 3. Compare construction and material
The catalog includes flexible foil, semi-rigid aluminum, vinyl, rigid pipe, and other constructions. Choose according to the installation requirements and the exact product instructions. The documented range does not support a blanket claim that one material is always higher quality or right for every job.
4. Plan the route and termination
Consider the route, its length and bends, and where the system terminates—through a wall, roof, soffit, or another approved location. Product suitability depends on the whole system, not only the duct section. Check local requirements as well as the appliance and product instructions.

5. Verify the listing and installation instructions
Before buying, check the individual specification sheet for any required certification or labeling, application restrictions, length limits, and installation directions. Confirm local code requirements. A specific product sheet takes precedence over a broad catalog description.
Can you use a Lambro UL 181 Class 1 air connector for a dryer vent?
No. Lambro’s 2025 specification sheet for its 600 Series UL 181 Class 1 air connector describes a non-insulated connector for HVAC supply and return at low to medium pressure and some exhaust applications, but explicitly excludes clothes-dryer exhaust. It states: “Do not use to exhaust a clothes dryer, UL 2158A certified clothes dryer transition ducts must be used.” Read the 600 Series specification sheet and confirm the exact dryer product and installation requirements for your project.
The same sheet says not to install this connector in lengths exceeding 14 feet under the cited UL 181 Class 1 guidelines and advises checking local building codes. That 14-foot limit applies to this product sheet; it is not a general duct-length rule and should not be transferred to other Lambro products.
