Yes. The BLSTR Sander V2.0 uses an electric motor and ceramic blast wheel to propel abrasive, so it does not need a compressor, blast pot or air hoses. Its practical niche is localized restoration and detailed surface preparation—not high-volume blasting over large areas or long work shifts.
How the BLSTR Sander works
The manufacturer describes it as a handheld electric sandblaster. Rather than relying on compressed air, its motor spins a ceramic wheel that accelerates abrasive from a bottle toward the work surface. It is abrasive blasting, not ordinary sanding with a pad, and the absence of an air compressor reduces the equipment needed to bring to a small job.

Where a compressor-free blaster makes sense
The manufacturer presents the tool for restoration and spot preparation, including paint removal from doors, trim and bannisters; rust removal from bike parts and small metalwork; garden ironwork; decorative stone; and furniture or antique restoration. It highlights curves, corners and profiles where a flat sanding pad may not follow the surface well. Its named work materials include wood, metal, stone and brick.
FEVI, a distributor, also lists glass and ceramic when used with suitable media and adjustment. Treat that as distributor guidance: confirm media compatibility and the effect on the particular surface before blasting it.
When conventional blasting is the better choice
The manufacturer says compressor-based equipment is preferable for “Big industrial work, day-long blasting, large flat surfaces.” FEVI similarly cautions that the BLSTR is not a replacement for industrial blasting on large surfaces or intensive work cycles. In practical terms, the trade-off is setup and portability versus throughput and sustained duty: avoiding compressor mobilization can help on small, localized jobs, but the available information does not establish that this handheld tool matches a conventional system’s production rate.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing abrasive and accounting for wear
Use the right media
The maker recommends abrasive measuring 0.2–0.5 mm and says media selection can matter more than increasing speed on hardened paint or stubborn coatings. Keep grit dry, consult the manufacturer’s current grit guide and manual, and check that the media suits both the tool and target material. Used grit is single-use according to the manufacturer; do not feed it back into the machine.
Plan for a wear part
The ceramic blast wheel is a consumable part, and the manufacturer says replacements are available through support. It estimates roughly 10–15 hours with its recommended aluminium silicate grit; hard industrial abrasives such as steel grit wear it faster, while softer media such as walnut shell wear it more slowly. This is a maker estimate, not independent durability testing or a universal service-life guarantee. Actual wear depends on abrasive, settings and intensity.
Safety and dust control
The included hand shield is not a complete assessment of dust, eye and face, or impact protection. Abrasive blasting can create hazardous dust and flying particles, so choose controls and protective equipment for the abrasive, substrate, task and work setting rather than assuming the shield alone is sufficient.

OSHA also requires eye and face protection when the respirator design does not provide it, and impact-protective gloves and aprons or equivalent for operators. These are workplace regulatory requirements, not a universal consumer PPE prescription; a generic respirator recommendation cannot account for every material or exposure.
