Glue may damage lenses or frame plastics, run into a hinge, and make later professional repair harder. A loose screw is a limited case where an eyeglass repair kit may help; a snapped frame, broken hinge, cracked lens, or loose lens should be assessed by an optician.
Why a glue label cannot tell you whether it will fix your glasses
Eyeglasses are not simply glass-and-metal objects. Frames use different materials, and a repair depends on where the break is, how much force the joint experiences, and whether the lenses or their coatings are close to the repair. A small bond can be stressed every time you put on or remove the glasses, as well as by flexing and sweat. Cemedine’s consumer FAQ, updated August 6, 2020, advises against adhesive repairs for these reasons and notes that residue can make later shop repairs impossible in some cases: Cemedine consumer FAQ.
Henkel markets Loctite Glass Glue for bonding glass to itself and some nonporous materials, including certain plastics and metals. That broad manufacturer claim does not establish that the product is suitable for a particular frame, hinge, lens, or coating: Loctite Glass Glue product information.
Choose the response by the type of damage

Can you use super glue on glasses?
It is a risky choice, not a dependable general fix. Glue can seep into a hinge or drip onto a lens, according to Rhode Island Eye Institute. Spokane Eye Clinic also warns of damage to some plastics and permanent sticking to lenses. A glue spill may affect lenses and warranty coverage, says eyecarecenter; serious damage such as a cracked lens, broken hinge, or frame snapped in two usually calls for professional repair or replacement: eyecarecenter guidance.

Do not use heat or other improvised methods to force a repair; Rhode Island Eye Institute cautions that these can worsen damage. If a lens or frame edge is loose or sharp, prioritize safety rather than wearing the glasses while waiting to repair them.
When a repair kit makes sense
A kit with a precision screwdriver and replacement screws can be useful for a loose or missing screw. Use a tool that fits the screw head, work slowly, and keep the screwdriver away from the lens so it does not slip into or scratch it. This limited option is not a substitute for repairing a broken frame, hinge, or lens.

Why professional assessment matters for serious breaks
An optician can assess whether a frame can be repaired or whether a part or the glasses should be replaced. Adhesive residue can complicate later service, and a glued repair should not be assumed to restore the original strength or lens performance. In the United States, the FDA says spectacle lenses sold in the country must comply with the impact-resistant lens regulation, 21 CFR 801.410; that regulation does not establish that a lens remains compliant after a glued repair: FDA impact-resistant lenses guidance.
