BullseyeBore Core helps you align a drill by projecting laser patterns onto the work surface. When the patterns appear concentric and circular on a flat surface, the manufacturer says the drill is perpendicular to that surface. Core is a visual alignment aid mounted on the chuck—not a physical guide that constrains the bit—so the operator still controls the drill.
How Core indicates drill angle
The Core attaches magnetically to a drill chuck and rotates with it. Its beams project patterns onto the surface around the bit. BullseyeBore says one pattern provides a reference and another changes shape when the drill is tilted: the alignment pattern becomes elliptical, while the reference remains circular. When the patterns appear circular and concentric on a flat surface, the maker identifies that as perpendicular alignment. See the manufacturer’s overview and Green model page for its explanation.
This is the manufacturer’s description of how the indicator works, not independent accuracy testing. The projected patterns help you judge angle, but they do not prevent the bit from wandering or correct for movement while drilling.
Choose a model for your bit and conditions
BullseyeBore lists two versions with different bit-length ranges and laser configurations. These are manufacturer specifications; confirm the limits for the exact model you have before use.

Both product pages list a maximum bit diameter of 0.5 in (1.3 cm), maximum drill speed of 2500 RPM, two LR44 batteries, and a required flat metallic chuck face at least 0.65 in (1.7 cm) across. Both state that the unit is not waterproof or water-resistant. The battery durations are manufacturer estimates, not independent measurements. Check the applicable product documentation and operating limits.
Check chuck compatibility before mounting
The magnetic attachment depends on the chuck’s shape and material. BullseyeBore’s FAQ gives these minimums:

- Common keyed or keyless chucks: a flat metallic face at least 0.65 in in diameter.
- Standard hex chucks: a flat face at least 0.4 in and a standard 1/4 in hex hole. An optional alignment guide may be needed.
The maker recommends checking the fit before operation and consulting its compatibility guidance. It also says it cannot test every drill and chuck in use, so compatibility should not be assumed from the drill brand or chuck type alone.
Use the projection as an alignment check
- Confirm that the Core is compatible with your chuck and bit length, and that the planned setup stays within the model’s listed limits.
- Mount the unit on the chuck’s flat metallic face according to the model instructions. For a standard hex chuck, check whether the optional alignment guide is required.
- Position the bit at the intended entry point and bring the drill toward the surface. Use the projected patterns to judge whether the drill is perpendicular; the manufacturer describes concentric circular patterns on a flat surface as the aligned condition.
- Maintain control of the drill as you start and continue the hole. Core indicates angle but does not physically guide the bit.
BullseyeBore says the device can be used on walls, floors, and ceilings. That does not establish compatibility or performance for every surface, chuck, bit, or drilling condition.

Account for debris and operating limits
The maker says the magnetic mount is designed to release if a foreign object contacts the rotating unit, and that Core does not touch the work surface. These are manufacturer descriptions of the design, not independent safety test results. Follow applicable drill and laser safety guidance, and do not exceed the product’s stated speed limit.
BullseyeBore’s FAQ warns that debris can obstruct the optical window and block some or all of the laser projections, particularly when drilling overhead. If the pattern is obscured, stop and address the obstruction using the model’s instructions rather than relying on a partial indication.

What the product claims do—and do not—establish
The Red Dot Design Award lists BullseyeBore Core as a 2024 award recipient. That is a design-award listing, not evidence of measured drilling accuracy. The available product information provides specifications and the maker’s operating explanation, but does not establish an independent accuracy measurement or quantified improvement in hole alignment.
For sales channels, BullseyeBore identifies its own site, Amazon.com for the United States, and Amazon.ca for Canada. Its homepage warns that listings on Amazon UK, Japan, the EU, and other international Amazon marketplaces are unauthorized and may not provide authentic products or warranty support.
