Will Samsung Ballie Go on Sale in 2026? The Latest Status

Samsung has not announced a 2026 Ballie release, price, or preorder. The robot is described as an internal innovation platform, while a leaked app design offers no proof of a retail launch.

No confirmed 2026 sale is on the calendar for Samsung’s Ballie home robot. Samsung’s last public consumer launch target was summer 2025, for the United States and South Korea. That window passed without a price, preorder, or retail release. Reporting in January 2026 described Ballie as an internal “active innovation platform,” not an imminent consumer device. A later app-interface leak may suggest continued experimentation, but it does not establish a product launch.

What Samsung promised—and when

Samsung first introduced Ballie at CES 2020, then showed a substantially revised version at CES 2024. The concept was a small, mobile home companion that could move around a home, interact with connected appliances, monitor spaces, and project images or information. Those were demonstrated or advertised capabilities, not independently verified specifications for a retail product. Samsung’s CES 2024 announcement describes the concept.

On April 9, 2025, Samsung announced that Ballie was intended to use Google Cloud’s Gemini and said it would be available to consumers in the United States and Korea that summer. Samsung described possible uses including conversational assistance, smart-home control, greetings at the door, schedule personalization, and reminders. The same announcement said final specifications, requirements, and pricing were still to be determined. It was a planned availability window—not a price announcement, preorder, or promise of a global launch. Samsung’s announcement

What happened to the 2025 launch?

The summer 2025 window passed without a confirmed consumer release. Later coverage reported another delay. In January 2026, Bloomberg reported that Ballie had been indefinitely shelved as a retail product; Ars Technica reported Samsung’s characterization of the robot as an “active innovation platform” for internal development. That supports describing Ballie as off an announced consumer-release path, but not as formally cancelled: Samsung has not publicly confirmed a permanent cancellation. Samsung’s CES 2026 showcase promoted other AI-home concepts without presenting Ballie as a product for sale. The Samsung Ballie newsroom archive likewise contains announcements and earlier material, not ordering details. Reporting in February 2026 also observed that Ballie’s former signup page had been removed or redirected; that is corroborating evidence of a changed public presence, not a formal cancellation notice. 9to5Google’s report

Does the leaked app mean Ballie is coming?

No. A 2026 leak described possible app wireframes for a “Home Robot,” with interface elements such as battery status, location, setup, mapping, streaming, and readiness or error states. The material could reflect a prototype, internal software work, an abandoned design, or a related project. It does not prove that finished hardware exists, that Samsung plans to sell it, or that the final product would be called Ballie. Android Central’s report on the leak

Samsung has not announced a new release date, price, preorder, or retail channel. No confirmed consumer warranty, shipping program, or independent ownership review has emerged either. Trade-show demonstrations and promotional descriptions are not evidence that ordinary buyers can purchase the device. Forbes’ coverage

Why might a home robot be difficult to bring to market?

Samsung has not named one definitive reason for the delay. The following are practical challenges for a product combining mobile robotics, cameras, a projector, connected-home control, and conversational AI—not confirmed explanations from Samsung.

  • Long-Lasting 5000mAh Battery: Enjoy extended standby for days of interaction on a single charge. When it’s time to power up, simply use the magnetic USB-C cable—always ready when you need it
  • Navigation and safety: A robot has to cope with rugs, thresholds, clutter, cables, furniture, pets, children, stairs, and changing light. A demonstration in a controlled space does not establish reliable everyday operation.
  • Projection: A moving projector must work at changing distances and angles, on different surfaces and in varied ambient light. That flexibility can come at the expense of the brightness or image quality of a dedicated projector.
  • Privacy and security: A device that moves through rooms with cameras and microphones raises questions about recording, cloud processing, data retention, account permissions, and whether sensors can be physically disabled.
  • AI and smart-home reliability: Conversational responses can be unpredictable, while appliance control requires dependable compatibility and safeguards against misunderstood commands.
  • Value for money: Ballie would overlap with specialized products such as smart speakers, indoor cameras, robot vacuums, tablets, and projectors. Consumers may question the cost if the all-in-one device does each job less effectively than a dedicated alternative.

Ars Technica also raised reliability and consumer-demand questions as possible factors, while noting Samsung’s internal-platform framing. Those remain analysis rather than a confirmed explanation from the company. Ars Technica

  • Auto-Recharge, Always Ready: EBO SE automatically returns to its charging dock when power is low, ensuring your mobile companion stays energized and ready for your next remote visit whenever you need it
  • For Samsung smart-home control: SmartThings can help manage a compatible connected home, but it is an ecosystem rather than a roaming robot.
  • For voice control and routines: Amazon Alexa or Google Home may suit households already using those platforms. Neither provides Ballie-style movement and projection.
  • For projection: A Samsung projector or another portable projector addresses the display use case without mobile robotics, cameras, or autonomous navigation.
  • For monitoring one room or a pet: A fixed indoor or pet camera is usually a more direct fit than a general-purpose robot, though it cannot patrol multiple rooms.
  • For autonomous movement and docking: Robot vacuums are a mature consumer category, but their core job is cleaning, not conversation or projection.
  • For a mobile home-monitoring robot: Amazon Astro is conceptually closer, but its current availability and support should be checked before treating it as a purchasable alternative. Amazon’s Astro page

These options solve separate needs rather than reproducing Ballie. Their prices, availability, bundles, and subscription requirements vary by country and date, so check the vendor’s current terms before buying.

What would count as proof of a real relaunch?

Before trusting a claim that Ballie is coming to stores, look for concrete buying information from Samsung rather than another prototype appearance or software leak:

  1. A new Samsung announcement with a specific release date.
  2. A live official product page and final hardware specifications.
  3. Named launch regions, a price, and any subscription terms.
  4. Compatibility requirements, privacy and data-handling documentation, and support or warranty details.
  5. A preorder option or confirmed retailer listing, followed by independent hands-on testing of production hardware.

Until those details appear, “coming soon” claims should be treated as speculation. Samsung’s April 2025 announcement was explicit that price and final specifications had not yet been set; a leaked interface or an executive’s general comments about robotics do not fill those gaps.
