For chlorine taste or odor, choose a filter whose exact model and replacement element are listed for chlorine reduction—not one that merely carries a general “NSF certified” label. The official sources here support several useful model examples, but not a defensible ranked top five: there is no matched comparison across five products, nor verified current pricing or availability. The options below are therefore candidates, with their documented claims and household fit made explicit.
How to choose a chlorine filter
Start with the water concern and where you want treatment. Chlorine and chloramine are distinct disinfectants, and a chlorine-reduction claim does not establish chloramine reduction. Filter formats also differ: faucet-mount, pitcher, countertop, under-sink, reverse-osmosis, refrigerator and whole-house systems serve different needs. A filter at one kitchen tap is not equivalent to treatment throughout the home.
Verify the exact model and claim
Check the model number and compatible replacement element in a third-party certification listing or the product’s performance data sheet. The NSF consumer guide to contaminant-reduction claims lists chlorine and chloramine separately and covers multiple system formats. The EPA likewise advises checking a performance data sheet for the contaminants targeted or consulting a third-party certifier, such as CSA Group, ICC-ES, IAPMO R&T, NSF, UL or WQA (EPA WaterSense guide, November 2024).
Match the format to your household
- Faucet-mount: A direct option for treating water at one tap; verify faucet compatibility and the listed cartridge.
- Countertop or under-sink: Consider these when you want a dedicated drinking-water connection or system. Check installation requirements and cartridge replacement details.
- Pitcher or refrigerator: Convenient options for stored or chilled drinking water; confirm the exact model’s claim rather than assuming every filter in the category treats chlorine.
- Whole-house: Intended to treat water entering the home, rather than only drinking water at a single tap. Confirm the system’s specific performance claims and installation needs.
Documented chlorine-filter candidates
These examples have product-specific official-source claims, but the available figures are not a head-to-head test. Differences in test conditions and evidence mean the percentages should not be used to rank one product above another.

| Pentair PDF-450 countertop system | Pentair says it is tested and certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI 42 for aesthetic reduction of chlorine taste and odor, chloramine and Particulate Class I. The page lists chlorine reduction above 91% and chloramine reduction of 91%. | Not stated on the cited product page. | Manufacturer-published figures; they do not establish a head-to-head advantage over another model. What these examples do—and do not—show
The PUR example provides a listed service-cycle capacity, while Pentair publishes reduction and replacement details for its two systems. These are useful comparison points when choosing a format, but the sources do not provide a common test protocol or matched conditions for ranking the models. Current replacement costs and seller availability are not established by these sources.
Chlorine is not the same as chloramine, lead or hardness
If your water utility uses chloramine, select a model whose own listing specifically claims chloramine reduction. NSF’s separate faucet-mount chloramine listing, for example, identifies PUR FM2700G with RF-3375/RF-9999 elements for that claim. That listing does not transfer the claim to a different PUR model.

- PATENTED DESIGN – The top-mounted fastener allows for easy countertop installation entirely from above, eliminating the hassle of tightening the nut from underneath the sink.
- MINERAL BOOST – The patent-pending natural mineral AK stage delivers spring water with a balanced, healthy pH and multiple essential minerals.
- SEE WHAT’S CAUGHT – The transparent first-stage filter housing makes it easy to monitor contaminant buildup, ensuring timely filter changes.
- NSF 58 CERTIFIED RO SYSTEM – Unlike other brands that lack NSF certification or full system certification, our RCC7AK is certified to NSF/ANSI 58 standards for the entire water filtration system.
- EFFECTIVE FILTRATION – Reduces TDS (93-98%), PFAS (96-99%), Chlorine (95-99%), Asbestos (>99.7%), Barium (>98.4%), Cadmium (>98.8%), Chromium (>99.2%), Copper (>97.8%), Fluoride (>97.4%), Lead (>98.9%), Selenium (>99.0%), and over 1,000 other contaminants.
A chlorine taste-and-odor claim also does not establish treatment of every contaminant or water hardness. If lead is a concern, EPA distinguishes NSF/ANSI 53 for lead reduction, including dissolved lead, from NSF/ANSI 42 Class I for particulate reduction (EPA guide, August 2025). Check that the exact filter’s performance data or certification listing covers the specific concern; chlorine reduction alone is not evidence of lead removal.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- [Easy DIY Compatibility] Designed for standard under-sink cold-water connections and municipal tap water. This 3 stage under sink water filter system connects directly to most faucets with 1/2" or 3/8" FEMALE NPT threads. It does NOT reduce TDS and helps retain beneficial minerals. Not suitable for hot water; for well water, use with a pre-filtration system. Need to connect to a quick-connect faucet? Contact Waterdrop for free adapter fittings. No additional faucet is included.
- [Easy Filter Replacement] Replacement filters are easy to find and install. For WD-TSA / TSB 3 stage under sink water filtration system, search B0CM8MHWNT for WD-10PP, B0CM8KV1M9 for WD-10GC, and B0CM8SDWWD for WD-10CT
- [More Filters, Better Taste] This under sink water filter system comes with 3 filters and can realize 8-stage deep filtration to reduce PFAS, PFOA/PFOS, residual chlorine, fluorides, silt, rust, cyst, etc. Its resin reduces fluorides. The CT filter has passed IAPMO certification to reduce residual chlorine and improve taste, thereby ensuring every drop is pure and healthy
- [Note On Flow Rate For Deep Purification] After full 8-stage filtration, purified water flows more slowly than direct tap water. Upgraded in 2026, the PP filter uses larger outer pores and finer inner pores to capture particles step by step, helping reduce clogging and maintain a faster, steadier flow rate. This design ensures sufficient contact time for thorough reduction of PFAS, fluoride, and bad taste, while still delivering a steady stream (max flow 1.5 GPM) that fills a standard 12-oz glass in about 4 seconds
- [No Leaking Or Cracking With Highly Precised Technique] The under sink water filter adopts strong materials with an upgraded design. In addition, the age-resistant and freeze-resistant materials make the system twice thicker. The under counter water filter system for kitchen has also passed 400 psi burst pressure, 100,000+ pulse tests at 150 psi, and static tests at 300 psi. These tests prove that the durable integral design clears up worries about cracking cases and leaking issue

Replacement and verification before buying
- Identify whether your water concern is chlorine, chloramine, or another contaminant; consult your water utility information if you are unsure which disinfectant is used.
- Find the exact product model in the certification listing or performance data sheet, and confirm that the claim names the contaminant you want reduced.
- Check that the replacement element listed for certification is the one compatible with the unit you plan to buy.
- Compare the documented capacity or replacement schedule with how much water your household uses. Replace according to the manufacturer’s stated interval or conditions.
- Before ordering, confirm installation fit, current cartridge availability and price with the seller. Those details are not established by the certification listings or product claims cited here.
