The best small infrared sauna is the one that fits your room, can be installed safely on your electrical supply, and has enough interior space for comfortable seating. “One-person” is not a standard size: compare interior and exterior dimensions, entry clearance, power requirements, documentation and service support before choosing a model.
How to tell whether a sauna will fit
Start with the cabin’s interior dimensions, not just its footprint. A compact exterior can still feel cramped once you sit down, and the room around the cabin must accommodate entry, delivery and any manufacturer-specified clearance.
Measure the cabin and the route into the room
Tundra lists its Equinox one-person cabin at 95 × 95 × 195 cm externally and 86 × 86 × 185 cm internally. Those measurements illustrate why both figures matter; they describe this model, not a general definition of “small.” Check the exact version and its documentation on the Tundra Equinox product page.
- Measure the available floor area and ceiling height, then account for the door swing and the clearance specified in the product manual.
- Check the bench dimensions and whether the seated position is comfortable for the intended user. A stated one-person capacity does not establish comfort for every body size.
- Measure the delivery path, including hallways, stairs and door openings. A cabin that fits in its final location may not fit through the route to get there.
- Confirm dimensions at the installation site against the exact manual. Manufacturer material advises verifying dimensions on site.
Use dimensions as model-specific examples
High Tech Health describes its one-person sauna line as needing roughly 3½ × 3½ feet of floor space. Peak Saunas gives a separate example of a one-person cabin measuring 42 × 40 × 75 inches. These are manufacturer-published examples, not a category-wide size standard; confirm measurements for the exact model you are considering.

Check electrical requirements before buying
Do not infer voltage, amperage or circuit requirements from the words “infrared” or “one-person.” Requirements differ by model and destination, and a standard outlet claim for one cabin does not establish what another cabin needs.

Before ordering, compare the sauna’s stated voltage, current and power with the electrical supply at the intended location. Have the exact requirements checked against the product documentation and local installation conditions. A plug that physically fits an outlet is not, by itself, confirmation that the installation is appropriate.

Compare features and support without assuming a universal winner
Once a cabin fits and its electrical needs are understood, compare the details that affect installation and ownership. Manufacturer specifications can help screen options, but they do not amount to independent side-by-side performance testing.
- Occupancy and seating: Check interior measurements and bench layout, not just the advertised person count.
- Temperature and heater information: Tundra lists an adjustable range up to 65°C for the Equinox. Treat that as a specification for that product, not a promise about other models or a measure of comparative performance.
- Materials and certifications: Tundra describes the Equinox as Canadian hemlock and lists manufacturer-stated certifications. Verify the exact model and supporting documentation rather than treating a general marketing statement as proof for every version.
- Warranty, repair and parts: Review the warranty terms, who handles service, and whether replacement parts are available. These details matter if the cabin needs repair after installation.
- Total installed cost: Include delivery and any work needed to prepare the location. Prices and a verified side-by-side value comparison are not established in the cited product information.
For the Equinox, Tundra identifies its technical guide as issue A, dated October 2, 2026. Check that the guide corresponds to the regional model you plan to buy, since the listed electrical specifications vary by destination.

Check the exact model against current recall information
Before purchase—and before using a sauna already in your home—search the model number against applicable recall notices. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a September 17, 2026 recall of specified Sauna360-related infrared saunas, hybrid infrared saunas and kits. The notice says affected panels can short circuit and overheat, creating fire and burn hazards; affected consumers are directed to stop use and arrange a free professional repair. It reports about 41,580 units in the United States and 6,758 in Canada, 67 reports of overheating, melting, charring or burning, and no injuries. These figures concern that recall only; they do not indicate that all infrared saunas are affected. Check the CPSC recall notice for covered brands and model numbers, and follow its instructions if your unit is included. Recall coverage and available remedies can change.

An infrared sauna heats the body directly without warming the surrounding air in the same way a conventional sauna does, according to Mayo Clinic’s September 13, 2024 health information. Mayo Clinic says studies have explored possible effects related to conditions including high blood pressure, heart failure, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, headache, type 2 diabetes and arthritis, but larger and more exact studies are needed to prove results; some studies also used regular saunas. This evidence does not establish that infrared saunas treat disease, detoxify the body or guarantee a health outcome.
