Sunbeam’s U.S. support catalog says the heaters it lists are no longer offered by Sunbeam Products, so there is no verified basis for calling any of them a current “best” pick. The catalogs do document several Sunbeam heater models, but a manual listing does not establish that a unit is still sold, how well it performs, or what it should cost. If you are considering a legacy or secondhand heater, start with its exact model number and regional version.
Is Sunbeam still selling electric heaters?
Sunbeam’s U.S. instruction-manual catalog places its heater listings beneath the notice, “Note:These items below are no longer offered by Sunbeam Products, Inc.” That means the listed U.S. models should be treated as legacy products, not current Sunbeam recommendations. The catalog does not establish current retail stock, prices, or comparative performance.
Sunbeam Canada has a separate heater manual catalog with additional regional model numbers. A manual entry confirms documentation exists; it is not a guarantee of current sales or that the model is suitable for use in another country.
Which Sunbeam heater models are documented?
The official catalogs identify several heater types and model names. These are examples of documented models, not ranked picks or verified current buys.

These descriptions do not establish heating capacity, room-size suitability, energy use, noise, or whether one model is better than another. Do not infer those qualities from a heater’s category or dimensions alone.
How to identify a Sunbeam heater before buying or using it
- Read the product label. Find the complete model number and regional suffix on the heater’s nameplate; do not rely only on a seller’s title or a similar-looking model.
- Match the exact model to its regional catalog. Use the U.S. or Canadian support page as appropriate, then locate the manual for that model. A Canadian model number does not establish that the unit is appropriate for use in the United States, or vice versa.
- Check condition and seller terms. For a used or marketplace listing, verify the unit’s condition and the seller’s return terms. Current marketplace stock and product condition are not established by Sunbeam’s manual catalogs.
- Read and follow the matching manual. Do not assume instructions or features from another heater in the same product family apply to your unit.
Check the exact model against recall notices
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s May 29, 2014 recall notice covers the Holmes ceramic heater model HCH1823M, distributed by Sunbeam Products. The notice reports about 151,600 units, 132 complaints that units unexpectedly stopped working and/or overheated, one report of smoke inhalation, and ten reports of property damage involving burned flooring. These figures apply to that recall notice, not to Sunbeam heaters generally.

The CPSC advised owners of recalled HCH1823M units to stop using and unplug them and described a refund remedy. This is a recall of a specific Holmes model, not a blanket recall of all Sunbeam heaters. Check the nameplate model against the notice before drawing a conclusion about a unit.
