Using the rewind safely
Rewind controls and operating instructions can vary by model. For the Hitachi CV-995HC/CV-985HC specifically, the official manual says to unplug the vacuum before pressing the rewind pedal. If the cord does not fully retract, the manual instructs users to pull out a short length and press again, and to align the cord inlet with the direction the cord was pulled for smooth rewind. Follow the manual for your own vacuum rather than applying this model-specific procedure to a Hoover or BISSELL.
