For a gas pressure washer that avoids a recoil-rope pull, the DEWALT DXPW3400PR is a documented residential example: DEWALT lists it at 3,400 PSI and 2.5 GPM, with a battery-operated starter activated by the spray-gun trigger. That convenience does not make it an electric-powered washer: it still uses a gasoline engine and must run outdoors. Before considering any Generac or DR electric-start model, check its exact model and serial number against both current and earlier recall notices.
What electric start means on a gas pressure washer
Electric start refers to starting the gasoline engine, not the power source for washing. On the DEWALT DXPW3400PR, the manufacturer describes a battery-operated system that starts when the spray-gun trigger is squeezed. It says no choke adjustment or recoil-rope pull is required, and the unit shuts off after a few seconds of inactivity to save fuel and reduce noise. Starting arrangements vary. Before buying, establish whether the exact model starts by a button, trigger, or another control; whether its battery is included; whether recoil starting remains available; and whether the engine shuts off automatically. Confirm these details in the manual for the exact SKU rather than assuming all electric-start washers behave alike.
Compare pressure, flow, and intended work
PSI describes water pressure; GPM describes water flow. Both matter when matching a washer to a job, so a PSI-only comparison can be misleading. A higher-flow machine moves more water, but its output, water-supply needs, accessories, and intended duty must suit the work. Manufacturer ratings are listed configurations, not a common independent cleaning test.

These figures and features are manufacturer-listed, not independent comparative results. The cited material does not establish which model cleans fastest, lasts longest, or provides the best value. Choose by actual workload rather than treating the highest PSI or GPM as an automatic winner.

Check the exact Generac or DR model for recalls
On May 14, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced an expanded recall naming Generac models G0089111, G0088941, and G0088951, and DR Power model DPW3109DEN. The notice says the electronic start/stop button can malfunction and self-start, creating a carbon-monoxide poisoning risk if the washer is in a confined space. CPSC directs consumers to stop using affected washers and contact Generac to arrange a free repair at a dealer. The notice reports six self-start reports and no injuries or property damage. It covers about 16,260 units in the United States and about 120 in Canada; these are regulator-reported recall counts, not estimates of risk prevalence. Read the CPSC 2026 expanded recall notice.
A separate CPSC recall from April 28, 2022 named DR models DPW3100DEN, DPW3101DEN, and DPW3102DEN, and Generac models G0071320, G0071321, G0071430, and G0071431. That notice reported nine self-start reports and no injuries or property damage. It covered about 53,000 units in the United States and 1,750 in Canada; affected consumers were told to remove the battery and arrange switch replacement. See the CPSC 2022 recall notice.

Do not infer recall status from a product-family name: manufacturer pages may show family names or variant identifiers that do not match the regulator’s model-number format. For an existing unit or older stock, read the product label and use the current CPSC or manufacturer recall lookup to check the exact model and serial number. The 2026 list is not a substitute for checking earlier recall coverage. If the unit is listed, follow the recall instruction and remedy rather than using it while awaiting service.
Match accessories, service, and regional requirements
Compare what is actually included with the exact SKU: nozzle set, hose, detergent tank, surface cleaner, and any other attachments. A kit’s bundled accessories do not establish compatibility with a different washer. Review the product manual and warranty for the specific model for pump and engine maintenance, approved parts, and service requirements; do not assume terms are identical across a brand.

Pressure-Pro says electric start is standard on Pro-Max V-Twin models and that a battery and marine battery box are included. Its product page also describes California sales and configuration limitations and a compliant upgrade option. Verify the exact configuration with the manufacturer or dealer and check applicable local requirements before purchase. These commercial-output models may be more machine than ordinary home cleaning requires.

Electric starting does not remove the carbon-monoxide hazard of a gasoline engine. CPSC advises: “Put the generator or pressure washer motor outside and away from doors, windows, and vents.” Follow the washer’s manual as well, and never run the engine in a garage, shed, or other enclosed or partly enclosed space. The self-start failure described in the Generac/DR recall makes the confined-space warning especially important: a unit can start without an operator deliberately pulling a cord.
