If you want to avoid plastic contacting kettle water or steam, assess the parts inside the water path—not just the exterior or a “BPA-free” label. “No plastic in the water path” is also narrower than “the entire appliance contains no plastic.” Of the models documented here, SAKI’s Luna Electric Kettle Pro is described by its manufacturer as having a plastic-free water path; Fellow explicitly says its EKG kettles are not fully plastic-free.
What “no plastic” means for an electric kettle
A stainless-steel body does not establish that every part exposed to water or steam is metal. Check the vessel, spout, underside of the lid, filter or strainer, water gauge or window, temperature-sensor area, and seals. Also look for whether a claim covers water contact only, steam exposure, or the whole appliance.
Silicone is not plastic, but it is a non-metal material that may contact water. If your requirement is no plastic specifically, distinguish that from a stricter requirement for an entirely metal water path.
SAKI Luna Electric Kettle Pro: a documented water-path option
SAKI describes the Luna Electric Kettle Pro as having a “100% plastic-free water path.” Its materials page identifies 304 stainless steel for the chamber, spout, and underside of the lid, and a silicone lid seal. The manufacturer also describes welded steel from chamber to spout. This supports a model-specific water-path claim, not a claim that the complete appliance is all metal or contains no plastic anywhere. Published features and terms
SAKI’s kettle collection lists the Luna at $169.95 and 1500 watts, and says four cups are ready in under three minutes. It also lists temperature hold, a two-year warranty for purchases made directly from SAKI, and 30-day returns. These are manufacturer-published details, not independently verified performance results; price, stock, specifications, and terms can change. Check the current SAKI kettle listing before buying.
How to interpret the lab result
SAKI reports that Light Labs received one Luna sample on November 4, 2025, and tested it in November 2025 for heavy metals, bisphenols, phthalates, and PFAS. The reported results were “Not Detected” for the listed panels; the page notes that two phthalates were present below the 1 ppb quantitation limit. This is a result for one sample, the stated analytes, and the methods’ detection limits—not proof that every unit has the same result, that no other substances are present, or that the kettle produces a particular health outcome. Why a stainless-steel interior may not meet a strict requirement
Fellow’s disclosure, dated June 5, 2026, covers Stagg EKG, Stagg EKG Pro, Stagg EKG Pro Studio, Corvo EKG, Corvo EKG Pro, and Corvo EKG Pro Studio. Fellow says these models have 304 stainless-steel interiors and a compression-molded silicone ring around the temperature probe, but polypropylene is used in some lid, base, and handle components. Fellow’s stated conclusion is: “No, Fellow EKG electric kettles are not fully plastic-free.” Do not choose these models if your criterion is that no part of the appliance contains plastic. How to choose a kettle for your requirements
Verify the exact model and exposed parts
- Read the manufacturer’s materials information for the precise model and revision; do not infer internal materials from a stainless-steel exterior.
- Check the chamber, spout, lid underside, filter, gauge or window, sensor, and seals. If a part is not addressed, ask the manufacturer rather than assuming it is plastic-free.
- Decide whether silicone is acceptable and whether your concern includes steam exposure or every appliance component.
- Look for a specific water-path statement, not just “BPA-free,” which does not answer whether other plastics contact water or steam.
Compare practical features after materials
Once a model meets your materials boundary, compare capacity, temperature controls, temperature hold, spout style, automatic shutoff, boil-dry protection, cleaning and descaling instructions, replacement parts, warranty, price, and local availability. Verify safety features and care directions in the exact model’s documentation. What the available evidence supports
The documented Luna is a specific manufacturer-described option for shoppers seeking no plastic in the water path, while Fellow’s disclosure shows why “304 stainless interior” alone is not enough to establish that an appliance is fully plastic-free. The available information does not support a broad claim that any kettle is inherently safer, non-toxic, or environmentally superior. Judge the materials claim separately from performance, health, and environmental conclusions.
