If you are considering an older Jonsered, choose by the work you need it to do, the exact model and cutting equipment, the saw’s condition, and access to local service—not by an unsupported year-specific ranking.
What the available model information can—and cannot—tell you
A 2021 Jonsered operator manual identifies the CS 2245 II, CS 2255 II, and CS 2250S II as combustion-engine chainsaws intended for forest work including felling, limbing, and cutting. It also notes that national regulations may restrict operation. That manual does not establish that these were the complete 2019 lineup.
A separate 2020 manual covers the CS 2245 II, CS 2245S II, and CS 2250S II. Because the documents postdate 2019 and cover different model lists, they are useful for understanding specific saws, not for reconstructing every model sold in 2019 or declaring a winner.
Choose a saw for the work, not a year-based ranking
For firewood, property maintenance, or other cutting, start with the exact model’s manual and intended use. Match the saw’s capabilities and weight to the material, task, and operator. A larger or heavier saw is not automatically the better choice; suitability depends on the job and the person using it.

A Chainsaw Journal reviewer compared the CS2245 with the Husqvarna 450, describing the Jonsered as no less proficient at cutting while noting its slightly smaller engine. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not an independently verified result or a controlled test from 2019, so it should not be treated as a definitive ranking.
Check the CS 2245 II’s documented specifications
For the CS 2245 II, the 2020 manufacturer manual lists a saw weight of 5.1 kg, a chain speed of 23.1 m/s under the manual’s stated condition of 133% of maximum engine power speed, and an equivalent operator-ear sound pressure level of 103 dB(A). These are manufacturer figures for that specified model and measurement context—not comparative test results or guarantees of performance in use.

Use the exact manual to match a bar and chain
The CS 2245 II manual lists safety-evaluated cutting-equipment combinations with 0.325-inch pitch, 1.3 mm/.050-inch gauge, and Jonsered H30 chain:

These combinations apply to the CS 2245 II manual’s recommendations; do not assume they fit every Jonsered saw. Inspect a used Jonsered before deciding what it is worth
On an older saw, condition and service access may matter more to the purchase than a model label. Compare listings using these checks:
- Starting and running: Check cold-start behavior and running condition. If the seller will not allow a reasonable inspection, factor that uncertainty into your decision.
- Safety and function: Check the chain brake and chain-oiling system. Do not use a saw with a safety feature that is faulty or unclear.
- Wear and maintenance: Look for leaks, ask about maintenance history, and have a qualified technician assess compression or other questionable mechanical condition.
- Fit for the operator and task: Weigh power and saw weight against the intended work and the operator’s ability to handle the equipment safely.
- True ownership cost: Include likely service, a correctly matched bar or chain, and required safety equipment—not just the asking price.
- Local support: Ask a servicing dealer whether they will work on the exact model and whether needed parts can be sourced.
Find manuals and support for the exact model
The 2021 operator manual directs owners to a servicing dealer for more information. Husqvarna’s current US chainsaw support page provides model lookup and links to manuals, troubleshooting, parts, accessories, and registration. It is a useful starting point, but it does not confirm that any particular discontinued part is in stock. Availability and service options should be checked locally.
