If you want an electric kettle with no plastic touching the water, assess the parts inside the kettle—not just its exterior. If you also want steam and condensation to avoid plastic, the bar is higher: lid interiors and seals matter too. Aarke’s materials disclosure, for example, describes stainless steel and silicone in the liquid-water path, but also plastic and silicone components that steam may contact. “Plastic-free” therefore needs a clearly defined scope.
What “plastic-free” means for an electric kettle
A kettle can meet one definition of plastic-free and fail another. Decide which standard you mean before comparing products:
- No plastic in the liquid-water path: Water does not touch plastic surfaces or components. This is not the same as having no plastic elsewhere in the kettle.
- No plastic in the water or steam path: Neither liquid water nor steam or condensate touches plastic. Lid undersides, seals, and surfaces where condensation gathers become relevant.
- No plastic anywhere in the appliance: This is the strictest standard and includes components that may not touch water or steam, such as parts of the handle or base.
These are material definitions, not evidence of a particular health effect. BPA-free is also not synonymous with plastic-free: a BPA-free plastic component is still plastic.
How to check a kettle’s materials
Do not rely on a stainless-steel body or glass chamber alone. Check the manufacturer’s material disclosure for the inside surfaces, spout, filter, water-level window, heating plate, sensor or probe seal, and the underside and seal of the lid. If avoiding plastic in the steam path matters to you, ask specifically about steam and condensate contact—not just whether the kettle’s water-contact surfaces are plastic-free.
#1 Best Overall
- No Plastic Contact with Your Water——With no plastic inside, water never touches plastic, ensuring a pure taste and safer drinking experience
- Faster Than a Stovetop Kettle——Heats 0.5L (2 Cups) water in under 3 minutes for less wait time
- Easy to Clean——Wide mouth and large-angle lid lets you reach every corner with ease
- Safe & Easy to Use——Worry-free auto shut-off and boil-dry safety feature
- Auto Shut-Off Safety——Automatically shuts off within 30 seconds after the water reaches a boil
Manufacturer claims should be tied to the exact model and current design. A product-category claim may not identify which model it covers, and materials can differ across a brand’s range or change over time.
What current material disclosures say about these options
Aarke Stainless Steel Electric Kettle
Aarke says water directly contacts stainless steel inside the kettle and silicone rubber at the temperature-sensor seal; its removable limescale filter is stainless steel. Aarke also says steam may condense and contact a silicone lid seal and a plastic inner-lid structure. That makes the kettle a possible fit for someone whose priority is the liquid-water path, but not for someone requiring no plastic contact from steam or condensate. These are Aarke’s own product details, not independent product-test findings. See Aarke’s materials description.

SAKI electric kettles
SAKI’s official Plastic-Free Electric Kettle page says its kettles have zero plastic contact points. The page’s claim is not, by itself, a model-by-model materials specification or independent test result. Confirm that the exact kettle you are considering is included and that its current design meets your chosen standard before buying. The page search result reported an update date of August 26, 2026; check the live listing for current details.
Fellow Stagg EKG: stainless interior, not fully plastic-free
In a materials disclosure dated June 5, 2026, Fellow says current EKG models use high-grade 304 stainless steel inside and a compression-molded silicone ring around the temperature probe. Fellow also identifies BPA-free, food-safe polypropylene in parts of the lid and base, as well as plastic handle components on standard models. Fellow explicitly says its EKG kettles are not fully plastic-free. A stainless interior and BPA-free parts do not make the whole appliance plastic-free. Read Fellow’s EKG materials disclosure.

Glass-bodied kettles
Glass can make the main chamber’s material easy to see, but it does not establish that every water- or steam-contact component is plastic-free. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 comparison describes plastic accents around the Cosori glass kettle’s lid and handle. Check the particular model’s filter, lid, seals, and other internal parts rather than treating a glass body as proof of a plastic-free path. Tom’s Guide also notes that regular descaling can help prevent limescale flakes from ending up in a drink. See Tom’s Guide’s 2026 kettle guide.
Choose a kettle by material threshold first, then by use
Once you have ruled out models that do not meet your material standard, compare the practical details that affect everyday use. The available sources do not offer a uniform independent comparison of features, prices, or durability across the options above, so verify current specifications and availability for your region on the manufacturer or retailer listing.

- Capacity: Match the kettle’s capacity to how much you typically boil; a larger model may take more counter space.
- Temperature controls: If you need specific water temperatures, check whether the exact model offers them and how they are set.
- Pour style: Consider whether the spout and handle suit your usual pouring, including whether you want a controlled pour.
- Filling and cleaning: Check lid access, visibility of the water level, and how easily you can reach the interior to clean and descale it.
- Kitchen fit: Compare footprint, finish, cord storage, and shape with the space available on your counter.
- Ownership details: Confirm warranty terms, replacement-part availability, regional availability, and current price before purchase.
Keep limescale under control
Mineral deposits can accumulate in a kettle and flake into a drink. Tom’s Guide identifies regular descaling as a way to help prevent that. Follow the kettle manufacturer’s cleaning instructions, since this information does not establish a specific suitable descaler or cleaning method for every model.
A practical buying decision
For a liquid-water-only standard, Aarke’s disclosed materials may be relevant, but its description includes plastic and silicone that steam may contact. For a stricter no-plastic-contact standard, SAKI makes a brand-level claim, but verify the exact current model and its materials before relying on it. Fellow’s EKG disclosure shows why it is important to check: a kettle can have a stainless-steel interior and BPA-free parts while still not being fully plastic-free.
