How to evaluate the fabric and weather claims
Serena & Lily says of the Sundial sofa: “Our performance fabrics are designed to repel water, resist mildew and stand up to extreme sun, heat and rain exposure without fading.” This is the manufacturer’s description of its fabrics on a current product page, not an independently verified test result. The armchair listing repeats the brand’s performance-fabric weather claims. Neither statement establishes that every fabric or outdoor item from the brand has identical performance.

What to compare before choosing a piece
- Footprint and configuration: Match the listed dimensions to the patio and intended seating arrangement; allow room for access and movement.
- Frame and cushion construction: Distinguish between the sofa’s birch frame and recycled-fiber back cushions, and the loveseat’s engineered wood frame and foam-based seat cushion.
- Weather exposure: Treat performance claims as the manufacturer’s stated design intent, not a guarantee of performance in every climate or care situation.
- Protection and maintenance: Account for a separately sold fitted cover and the stated slipcover-cleaning steps where relevant.
- Storage and materials: Consider where a piece or its cushions can be stored and whether its materials suit your space; these are also the shopping considerations highlighted in Domino’s patio-chair coverage.
