For supplemental warmth in an indoor room, an oscillating ceramic tower heater sweeps its warm-air stream across a wider angle than a fixed-direction outlet. That can spread the airflow across more of the room, but oscillation does not increase the heater’s heat output or guarantee an even temperature. Two models with useful feature sets to compare are the Lasko CT22495 and DREO Solaris 718; the specifications below are from their manufacturers, not independent performance tests.

What to look for in an oscillating heater fan

Start with where the heater will sit and how you expect to use it. A tower’s oscillation angle describes how broadly it sweeps its outlet; it does not tell you how quickly or evenly the room will warm. Likewise, a manufacturer’s room-coverage estimate is not an independently measured result.

  • Controls: Check heat settings, adjustable thermostat, timer, and whether a remote is included.
  • Placement: Consider the footprint, cord reach, and whether the intended location allows the required clearance from combustible materials.
  • Safety and certification: Look for features such as tip-over and overheat protection, and confirm any certification stated on the exact product page or in its manual.
  • Upkeep: Review the instructions for cleaning the intake and outlet; do not assume a filter is included or requires maintenance unless the manufacturer says so.
  • Noise and warranty: Check the manufacturer’s claims and warranty terms for the exact model. The product information summarized here does not establish comparable noise or warranty performance.

Two oscillating ceramic tower heaters to compare

These are examples with documented oscillation and feature descriptions, not a tested ranking. Neither manufacturer’s product page establishes comparative room-heating performance.

Model Manufacturer-stated features Coverage and evidence limits
Lasko CT22495 Lasko describes this as a 22-inch, 1,500-watt ceramic tower heater with three heat settings, an Auto Eco thermostat, remote, 12-hour timer, oscillation, tip-over and overheat protection, cool-touch housing, and an ETL listing. Lasko lists medium-to-large-room use and maximum coverage of 300 square feet. This is Lasko’s stated coverage, not an independently tested result. Oscillation angle, noise claim, cord reach, cleaning requirements, and warranty details are not stated in the product information summarized here. Lasko CT22495 product page.
DREO Solaris 718 DREO describes a ceramic tower heater with 120-degree oscillation, adjustable temperature, remote control, tip-over protection, and overheat protection. The manufacturer says it automatically turns off after 24 hours of operation. The product information summarized here does not state a room-coverage estimate, wattage, heat-setting count, timer options, noise claim, cord reach, cleaning requirements, certification, or warranty. Confirm the exact model’s instructions and current availability. DREO Solaris 718 product page.

How to choose between them

Choose by controls and stated features

The CT22495’s manufacturer-listed features include three heat settings, an Auto Eco thermostat, a 12-hour timer, and cool-touch housing. DREO specifies a 120-degree sweep and adjustable temperature, with automatic shutoff after 24 hours of operation. Compare those functions against how you plan to operate the heater rather than assuming either set of features produces better heating.

  • Upgrade abs material: Upgrade abs material applied, which is more flame resident. The room heater with six feet lead cord and 2 prong connection has a long lasting life. The space heater for indoor use makes a noticeable difference and works well in small to medium rooms when positioned properly.

Choose by room and placement—not coverage claims alone

Lasko publishes a maximum coverage figure; DREO’s cited product information does not. The Lasko figure can help identify the manufacturer’s intended use, but it should not be treated as proof that the heater will maintain a particular temperature in your room. Room layout, drafts, insulation, and placement affect the result. Neither source provides independent side-by-side measurements of heating speed, temperature evenness, energy efficiency, noise, or reliability.

Use a portable heater safely

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) estimates that portable heaters were associated with an average of 1,600 fires, 70 deaths, and 150 injuries per year in the United States during 2020–2022. In its January 23, 2026 winter safety release, CPSC says: “Keep portable heaters at least three feet away from drapes, furniture, bedding and other combustible materials to prevent fires.” Read CPSC’s 2026 winter safety release.
