What to know before choosing a Duracraft humidifier
The available product information supports research for owners of existing Duracraft humidifiers, rather than a current “best” list of new units. Sears PartsDirect provides a Duracraft humidifier-parts lookup, but its model listings do not establish that every part is in stock or interchangeable. Honeywell’s current cool-mist support page covers Honeywell models; it does not establish that those models are Duracraft successors or compatible replacements.
Duracraft and Honeywell have a historical corporate connection, but that alone is not evidence of present-day product support or parts compatibility. For any part or replacement humidifier, rely on model-specific documentation rather than the shared brand history.
Identify your exact Duracraft model
Find the model number on the humidifier itself, then use that number when consulting the unit’s manual and a parts retailer. Sears PartsDirect lists Duracraft models including DH806, DH812, DH799, DH800, DH803, and DH831 on its parts page. This is a set of examples, not a complete model catalog.

Before ordering, compare the model number on your unit with the models named in the part listing or package. Check current stock and the seller’s return terms directly; a model lookup or search result does not confirm live inventory.
Which wick filter may fit?
A 2013 humidifier-filter catalog gives a fit-group lead for the following Duracraft models: DH799, DH800, DH803, DH804, DH805, DH806, DH807, DH812, DH815, DH821, DH822, DH823, DH824, DH836, DH837, DH840, and DH950. The catalog excerpt does not provide an exact part number for that group, and it does not establish fit for every Duracraft humidifier.

Use the list as a starting point, not a universal recommendation. Search for a replacement wick filter using your exact model number, then verify the part number and model coverage with the seller before purchase. Do not assume that a filter for a similar-looking model will fit.
Check safety information against the model
A U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notice published in the Federal Register on November 1, 2001 discusses particular Duracraft warm-mist models, not the entire product line. It reports that Duracraft imported and distributed approximately 1 million DH 3001–3006 and DH 901–904 units in the United States from 1990 through May 1996, including after Honeywell’s 1996 acquisition.

The same notice says that, as of February 1996, 68 claims had been reported to Duracraft in which a DH 3000-series humidifier or a pre-1995 DH 900-series unit emitted smoke or sparks or caught fire. This is a historical claim count for those specified model groups and date; it is not a current incident count or a finding about every Duracraft humidifier. If you are considering a secondhand unit, identify its model and assess its condition rather than drawing a brand-wide conclusion from the notice.

DH-831 guidance is model-specific
An archived manual identifies the DH-831 as a Natural Cool Moisture humidifier and cautions users not to open or attempt to repair the upper motor housing. Follow the manual for your exact unit; do not treat DH-831 instructions as applying to other models. The archive is hosted by a third party, so verify its guidance against documentation for your unit where possible.

Historical care products are not current buying recommendations
The DH-831 manual names DuraSept, DuraRinse, DuraFree, and a complete-care kit as historical care products. Their appearance in an archived manual does not establish that they remain available or are appropriate for another model. Check current, model-specific instructions before using any cleaning or treatment product.
The manual’s listed “4 Gallon (15.1 Litre) Output Per Day” and 1997 copyright line are historical claims for the DH-831 documentation, not independently tested or current performance figures.

How to assess a used unit or replacement option
- Model fit: Match the unit’s model number to the manual, part listing, and filter packaging.
- Condition and model-specific safety: Inspect the exact unit. The Federal Register notice discussed specified DH 3000 and DH 900 models, so do not generalize its findings to all Duracraft models.
- Parts availability: Confirm current stock and return terms with the seller rather than relying on a search result.
- Documentation: Prefer instructions that name your exact model, and treat archived manual information as historical unless verified for your unit.
- Replacement humidifiers: Do not assume a current Honeywell unit is a compatible replacement for a Duracraft model without model-specific evidence.
