For reusable plastic glasses that can go in the dishwasher, Tritan is a useful material to look for—but the exact glass’s care instructions matter more than the material name alone. Check whether the finished product is labeled dishwasher safe, which rack it belongs on, and whether lids, decorations, or other parts have separate rules. “Shatter-resistant” is a more accurate expectation than “unbreakable.”
What “dishwasher safe” means for plastic glasses
A material maker’s guidance does not automatically establish the care limits of every finished glass made from that material. Eastman describes Tritan copolyester as dishwasher safe and says it is used in drinkware such as water bottles and wine glasses. For an individual product, follow the glass maker’s own label or listing.
Tritan USA, for example, says its drinkware is top-rack dishwasher safe and can also be hand washed. That instruction applies to Tritan USA’s products; do not assume it applies to other brands or every Tritan item. Check the exact product’s rack placement and any limits for accessories or decorative finishes.

Available plastic drinkware forms include everyday tumblers, wine glasses, stemless wine glasses, champagne flutes, martini glasses, and whiskey glasses. Choose the shape that suits how and where you will serve drinks: a tumbler for everyday use, for example, or a stemless option when you prefer that serving style.

Compare the product’s stated capacity
Capacity and proportions vary by product. Compare the figures stated by the individual seller or manufacturer rather than assuming glasses in the same category hold the same amount. Listings for Tritan Glassware include different capacities for named glass types; verify the current listing before buying.
What to check before buying
- Dishwasher directions: Confirm that the exact finished glass is labeled dishwasher safe and note the specified rack or other placement.
- Parts and finishes: Check whether lids, straws, decorations, or other included pieces have different care instructions.
- Intended use: Use the product’s own guidance for temperature and use; do not infer a finished glass’s limits from a broad material description.
- Breakage and warranty: Treat “shatter-resistant” as a description of reduced breakage risk, not a promise that a glass cannot break. Read the chosen product’s warranty terms, including exclusions for accessories.
What Tritan material claims do—and do not—tell you
Eastman, the maker of Tritan, says its material is high-temperature stable and dishwasher safe. The company also says Tritan is suitable for food-contact use and does not contain BPA; its safety information discusses BPS and other bisphenols. These are Eastman’s claims about its material, not a blanket endorsement of every finished product or every way it might be used. For care and use, the finished product’s instructions remain the practical guide.

Examples of product-specific guidance
Tritan USA states that its drinkware is top-rack dishwasher safe. Its FAQ also says its stated lifetime guarantee does not cover accessories such as lids and straws, so review the terms for the particular item.
A Philips document for the HR0710/00 smoothie/on-the-go tumbler describes that specific Tritan tumbler as dishwasher safe. The document is version 4.4.1, issued 2023-04-20; it is an example of a product-specific instruction, not evidence about a set of drinking glasses.

Tritan Glassware lists several glass forms and describes its products as dishwasher safe. Those are seller claims, so confirm the current listing and the instructions for the item you intend to purchase.
