There is no evidence here for one universal “best” range: the right choice depends on the exact model, kitchen fit, fuel connection, usable capacity, and features you will use.
What makes a range a double oven?
Some ranges have two separate oven cavities. Others use a divider to split one oven into two cooking spaces. Samsung describes its Flex Duo system as transforming one oven into two, so check the configuration rather than assuming every product has two permanently separate cavities.
The practical benefit is cooking flexibility. GE says its double-oven ranges allow two dishes to cook at different temperatures at the same time. A smaller compartment can also be more convenient for a small meal, though the available cooking space depends on the model and configuration.
How to compare double-oven range examples
These examples illustrate what to verify; they do not establish a current performance ranking across the category.

What to check before buying
Configuration and usable capacity
Compare the capacity of each compartment, not just the total. Two ranges with a similar combined capacity may differ in the size and shape of the space available for a large roasting pan or baking sheet. For a divider-based model, confirm the usable dimensions in both split and full-oven configurations.

Fit, fuel, and connections
Measure the opening and check the exact model’s dimensions and required clearances before ordering. LG says most standard electric ranges are 30 inches wide, while Samsung lists example Flex Duo models at 29 15/16 inches; neither figure substitutes for the exact model’s measurements. Tom’s Guide advises checking fuel connections as well as available space. Changing from gas to electric or electric to gas may require gas or electrical work. Use the exact model’s installation manual and qualified installation advice.
Connection requirements can be model-specific. For example, a 2025 Consumer Reports excerpt says the LG LSDL6336F is dual fuel and requires both a gas line and a 220-volt electric line. Do not assume that requirement applies to other ranges.

Cooking surface and useful features
Compare cooktop type and layout, burner or element power, convection, cleaning options, air-fry or other specialty modes, and smart controls. Feature sets vary by model. Samsung lists convection and smart features on some Flex Duo configurations; LG lists ThinQ controls, cleaning options, and Air Fry on many electric models. Those descriptions do not show that one brand cooks better than another.
Choose features around how you cook: for example, whether you need a particular burner arrangement or routinely use a specialty mode. Avoid paying for a function you do not expect to use.

How to decide which one is best for your kitchen
- Measure the range opening and note any clearance requirements.
- Decide whether you prefer two separate cavities or a divider-based oven, then check how each configuration changes usable space.
- Confirm the exact model’s fuel type and the connections available in your kitchen; consult its installation manual before purchase.
- Compare each compartment’s capacity, cooktop layout, convection and cleaning options, and other features that matter to your household.
