Bosch’s US guidance recommends Finish detergent, specifically Finish Powerball Tabs and Finish Quantum. That is the manufacturer’s recommendation—not proof that either is the best-performing tablet in an independent comparison. For reliable use, put the tablet in the detergent compartment and follow your dishwasher manual for water hardness, salt and rinse aid.
Which dishwasher tablets does Bosch recommend?
Bosch’s US detergent guidance says, “We recommend and use FINISH™ detergent,” and names Finish Powerball Tabs and Finish Quantum. Bosch describes Powerball as including a presoaking agent, rinse aid and detergent; it describes Quantum as targeting tough food residue with an extra bleaching agent and enzymes. These are Bosch’s descriptions of the products, not results from a published head-to-head test.
The available guidance does not establish that Finish is universally superior to other brands or that one of the two named varieties cleans better in every Bosch model, load or water condition. Choose based on the product directions and your needs rather than treating the recommendation as a guarantee of “ultimate” cleaning power.
Where should you put a tablet?
Place it in the detergent compartment on the inside of the dishwasher door. Bosch says the compartment releases detergent at the appropriate point in the programme. Finish likewise instructs users to use the main detergent cup and warns that a tablet placed on the dishwasher bottom may dissolve too early. Check both the tablet’s package directions and your model’s manual.

Do tablets mean you can skip dishwasher salt?
Not necessarily. Bosch says many all-in-one tablets contain salt, but whether you need additional dishwasher salt depends on your water hardness. Its US guidance says salt is essential in hard-water areas. Check local water-hardness information and the instructions for your specific model before changing salt use or water-softener settings; a tablet’s “all-in-one” label does not replace those model-specific directions.
Should you use separate rinse aid?
Rinse aid is a separate decision from detergent. Bosch UK recommends separate rinse aid even when a detergent contains a small amount, explaining that the detergent and rinse aid dispense at different times. Bosch says rinse aid helps reduce water spots and improve drying. If dishes are wet or spotted, consult your manual for rinse-aid dispenser settings and follow the product directions.
Tablet, powder or liquid: which format makes sense?

Do not use hand dish soap in a dishwasher. Bosch warns that it creates too much foam and can damage the appliance. Use detergent intended for automatic dishwashers.
