Gloves may reduce some vibration in standardized laboratory tests, but a certification is not a guarantee of lower whole-job exposure. Prioritize reducing vibration at the tool and limiting exposure; choose gloves for a specific task only when evidence supports the glove-and-tool combination and the glove still allows safe control.
Do anti-vibration gloves work?
They can reduce vibration in some frequency ranges under laboratory test conditions, but they are not dependable standalone protection against hand-arm vibration. The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) says gloves generally do not reduce the lower frequencies that have the greatest effect on vibration exposure; their strongest reduction tends to occur at higher frequencies. A glove can also amplify vibration at particular resonant frequencies. HSE guidance on hand-arm vibration and a 2016 CDC-hosted review caution against relying on gloves as sufficient, consistent protection.
ISO 10819:2013 specifies a laboratory method for measuring vibration transmissibility through a glove at the palm. ISO gives the test frequency range as 25 Hz to 1,250 Hz in one-third-octave bands, and says the 2013 edition was reviewed and confirmed current in 2024; amendments are listed for 2019 and 2021. ISO 10819:2013 describes a defined measurement, not a guarantee for every tool, worker, grip, posture or task.
As summarized by Hewitt and colleagues in 2016, the standard’s criteria are average transmissibility no greater than 0.90 from 25–200 Hz and no greater than 0.60 from 200–1,250 Hz. Those are test criteria for their defined frequency bands—not percentages of whole-job exposure reduction. The review concludes that other available vibration controls should be implemented before anti-vibration gloves are considered.

How to choose gloves for a construction task
1. Look for evidence that matches the tool
Check what standard or certification the manufacturer claims, but do not treat a label alone as proof that a glove reduces exposure on your job. For exposure-reduction claims, look for test data for the particular glove-and-machine combination. HSE advises employers not to issue anti-vibration gloves to reduce exposure unless such data shows a reduction for that combination.
2. Make sure the glove allows safe handling
Try the glove with the tool and the task. The wearer must be able to maintain secure control, grip and the precision the work requires. Thick padding can limit dexterity; if a glove is uncomfortable or makes the tool harder to handle, workers may reject it or grip the tool harder. Either outcome can undermine safe work. HSE warns that thick gloves can seriously limit dexterity and make use unsafe.

- 【ERGONOMIC FIT】 180° covered your fingertips and cut the finger junctions and pre-curved fingers at a 45 ° angle, and have an adjustable hook and loop closure design to ensure a customized fit to the maximum extent possible.
- 【MULTI-USE WORK GLOVES & DEVOTED CUSTOMER SERVICE】Perfect for construction, driving, maintenance, equipment operation, landscaping, gardening, etc. DLY industrial gloves are machine washable for easy cleaning and maintenance.
3. Match protection to other hand hazards
Choose gloves for the hazards actually present, such as impact, cuts, abrasion or chemicals. Vibration padding does not establish protection against these hazards; check the glove’s specifications for each relevant risk.
4. Check fit, acceptance and replacement needs
Confirm the glove fits the wearer, remains acceptable during the work and can be replaced when needed. Consider expected service life as part of selection. A glove that interferes with the task or is not worn cannot provide its intended protection against other hazards.

A documented product example: Ergodyne ProFlex 9015F(x)
Ergodyne lists the ProFlex 9015F(x) as certified to ANSI/ASA S2.73-2014/ISO 10819:2013. Manufacturer-listed features include full-length AVC palm padding, molded TPR armor over the knuckles and fingers, a gripping palm, a hook-and-loop closure and sizes S through 2XL. See the manufacturer’s product specifications.
These specifications make it a documented example to assess, not a proven winner or a recommendation for every construction job. The listed certification does not establish superior real-world attenuation or a reduction for a particular tool-and-glove combination. Check current specifications and suitability for the task before purchase.
