A couple in Australind, Western Australia, said several mature plants were taken from their front garden overnight, leaving four holes behind. The local report, published by PerthNow on 24 September 2024, said the residents contacted police; it did not identify a suspect or report what happened afterward.
What the Australind residents said they found
The unnamed couple said they woke on the Wednesday before the report was published and discovered four holes in their front garden, with several mature plants missing. They described the removal as deliberate, but the report does not establish who took the plants or why.
A garden built over two years
The residents said they had spent two years developing the garden, replacing red bricks with mulch and water-wise native plants. Among the plants they named were Geraldton wax and kangaroo paw, and some of these plantings were gone.
What is known about police contact
The couple said they contacted police. PerthNow’s report does not provide a later investigation update, say whether the plants were recovered, or identify any suspect. It therefore establishes that police were contacted, not the case’s subsequent status.
