Jingle bells can be the main feature of a wreath or ornament, or a small accent on a garland, tree, table setting, or wrapped gift. These 70 ideas are adaptable variations—not 70 tested projects. The linked tutorials demonstrate representative ways to attach, paint, string, and hang bells.
Choose a structure to suit the display: a wreath form for a door, floral wire for a bell ring, ribbon or twine for a hanging strand, or a recycled container for a handmade bell. Then choose the palette, scale, and amount of movement you want.
Wreaths and door decor
For a full bell wreath, arrange bells over a wreath form; for a lighter look, space them around the ring or cluster them beside greenery and ribbon. A wood-bead mini wreath offers another structure: Bella Crafts describes one using 20 medium wood beads on 18-gauge paper-stem wire, with greenery, berries, bows, a D-ring hanger, and three bells (Bella Crafts Publishing, Holiday Décor & More). A white-and-gold wreath tutorial combines boxwood garland, a wreath frame, felt petals, and bells; Oriental Trading estimates 30 to 40 minutes and labels it beginner-level (Oriental Trading’s DIY Jingle Bell Wreath).

Painting bells for a custom wreath
Handmade Charlotte’s painted plastic bell wreath uses gesso to prime the bells, paint on the inside and outside, and a painted foam wreath base. The tutorial arranges bells with pins before attaching them with a hot-glue gun on its low setting (Handmade Charlotte’s Painted Jingle Bell Wreath). Follow the paint and glue manufacturers’ directions, and let coatings dry fully before hanging.

Garlands and hanging decor
Garlands work with bells tied, threaded, or suspended at intervals. Crayola’s garland instructions combine paper strips and beads on metallic chenille stems with bells made from clean recycled plastic containers; small ringing bells serve as clappers. The project is labeled for ages 8 and up, and Crayola says an adult should help punch holes in the containers and that decorated bows should air-dry overnight (Crayola’s Ringing Bell Garland). Bella Crafts also describes spool-and-bead garland and bell hangers using ribbon, wood spools or beads, jute, and bells (Bella Crafts Publishing, Holiday Décor & More).

Tree ornaments and mini trees
A wire ring makes a compact ornament that can be hung with ribbon. Oriental Trading’s tutorial threads bells onto floral wire bent into a circle and adds a ribbon loop; its stated 35-to-45-minute duration applies to that tutorial, not every variation (Oriental Trading’s Make a Jingle Bell Ornament). For a small display, Bella Crafts includes a gold jingle bell tree among its holiday projects (Bella Crafts Publishing, Holiday Décor & More).

Painted, upcycled, and playful projects
A bell can also be built from a small container rather than bought ready-made. The National Bell Festival’s activity uses a paper cup, a small terra cotta pot, or an empty tin can with its lid fully removed and no sharp edges. It suggests a ribbon, yarn, or pipe-cleaner handle and wood beads or jingle bells as the clapper; the page gives a 30-minute estimate for this activity (National Bell Festival’s Create a Bell). If making a hole in a can, that activity calls for a nail and hammer; have an adult handle the task and check carefully that no sharp edges remain.

How to choose and attach bells
Start with the display location, then choose the structure and attachment that fit it. A door wreath needs a sturdy form and hanger; a tree ornament needs a loop; a garland needs a strand or stem that supports the bells without sagging. Use the finish and supporting materials to set the style, and decide whether you want bells to move and make sound or sit quietly as visual accents.
