The Instant Pot DUO Plus 6QT V3, Breville Fast Slow Pro, and Ninja HyperHeat are documented examples—not hands-on tested winners. Choose among them by the features that matter to your kitchen, not by preset count alone.
What makes a cooker a pressure cooker and slow cooker combo?
Look for both pressure cook and slow cook in the specifications for the exact model. “Multicooker” by itself does not guarantee either feature: Ninja, for example, distinguishes its PossibleCooker PRO, which it says does not pressure cook, from its HyperHeat pressure cooker. Check the model’s own product information before buying (Ninja multicookers and pressure cookers).
Pressure cooking uses a sealed pot to cook under pressure; slow cooking uses a longer, lower-heat approach. Having both lets you choose a cooking method for the dish and schedule. Instant Pot says its DUO Plus V3 cooks “up to 70% faster than traditional slow cooking methods.” That is the manufacturer’s product-page claim, dated May 1, 2025, not an independently verified comparison (Instant Pot DUO Plus 6QT V3).

| Model | Capacity and documented modes | Release, controls, and cleanup details |
|---|---|---|
| Instant Pot DUO Plus 6QT V3 | 6 quarts. Pressure cook and slow cook, plus sauté, sous vide, steam, sterilize, keep warm, rice, and yogurt. Instant Pot lists 15 one-touch programs. | Stainless steel inner pot; easy-release control; product page identifies dishwasher-safe parts and a 1-year limited warranty. See Instant Pot’s product page. |
| Breville Fast Slow Pro | 6-quart bowl; pressure cook and slow cook. Breville lists eight pressure levels from 1.5–12 psi and slow-cook settings from high to low. | Dual sensors, display feedback, and automatic quick, pulse, or natural steam-release modes; removable dishwasher-safe lid. See Breville Fast Slow Pro. |
| Ninja HyperHeat | Ninja lists pressure cook and slow cook among 9 functions. A search-result product summary lists 6.5 quarts; check the current exact SKU and its specifications before relying on that capacity. | The pressure lid locks until pressure is released. Ninja’s page identifies the model family as PC201/PC200 in different page content, so confirm which SKU is offered. See Ninja’s multicooker page. |
Choose capacity for your usual batches
Capacity is a specification, not a guarantee that every recipe can be filled to the brim. Compare the stated pot size with your typical batch—weeknight portions, leftovers, or larger meals—and check the model manual for fill limits. The two 6-quart examples are similar in stated capacity; the Ninja’s listed 6.5-quart figure should be confirmed against the exact model listing. Do not assume a larger nominal capacity means a proportionally larger usable batch.
Understand pressure release before you buy
Quick release and natural release affect how and when cooking pressure falls. Instant Pot describes quick release as switching from “sealing” to “venting,” which expels a jet of steam through the release handle. Natural release lets the cooker depressurize gradually as it cools (Instant Pot DUO Plus FAQ).

- 𝟵 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟭: Pressure Cook, Rice, Steam, Sterilize, Oatmeal/Porridge, Stew/Broth, Bean/Grain, Meat/Poultry, Slow Cook, Sauté, Ferment, Sous Vide, Keep Warm
- 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻: The Seal/Vent button away from the steam release value, and the 30° backward-angled steam release design, make a safer and easier venting
- 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗧𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻: Stainless steel, fingerprint-resistant housing, the 0.5-inch widened pot gap, and the dishwasher-safe lid, ceramic coating inner pot, and accessories make cleanup a breeze
- 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: To close and secure the lid, align the orange dot on the lid with the orange dot on the pressure cooker base and twist clockwise
- 𝟭𝟮 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: The pressure cooker is designed with a double-layer anti-scalding lid and overheat protection to keep cooking safe
Breville advertises automatic quick, pulse, or natural release modes on the Fast Slow Pro. Ninja says its pressure lid remains locked until pressure has been released. These are meaningful usability and safety differences, but they do not replace following the recipe and the manual for your specific appliance. Keep clear of escaping steam and never try to open a pressure lid before the cooker indicates pressure has been released.
Check cleaning and controls, not just the mode count
Several cooking modes can be useful if you will actually use them, but a long preset list is not a measure of cooking quality. Compare the parts you will handle after cooking and the feedback you get while operating the cooker.
