WebstaurantStore’s guide, marked updated July 22, 2026, names five picks for different needs: Beverage-Air BM23HC-B for single-keg service, Beverage-Air DD68HC-1-C-B for dual-tap service, Krowne DB72L-BSS-LR for high-volume service, Beverage-Air DD48HC-1-B as a space-saving option, and Avantco UDD-1-HC as a budget pick. These are the guide’s editorial selections, not results of independent testing.
Use the picks as a shortlist, then confirm the exact model’s current dimensions, tap and keg configuration, electrical requirements, included draft hardware, warranty, and commercial listing before buying.
How to choose a commercial kegerator
Start with the demands of service rather than the number of taps alone. Tap count describes how many beer selections can be available at once; keg capacity describes how much product can be held cold before replenishment. Check both against your menu, expected turnover, and available staff workflow. Commercial product listings include varied tap and keg configurations, so verify the exact SKU rather than assuming every version of a model is identical.
- Service demand: Decide how many distinct beers need to be pourable simultaneously and how often kegs can be changed.
- Floor plan: Measure the installation opening and service area, including clearance for ventilation, doors, and staff access.
- Layout: A direct-draw unit keeps kegs in the cabinet beneath the taps. A back-bar arrangement puts taps at the counter and kegs behind it. Choose based on the room and serving workflow.
- Installation and ownership: Confirm voltage and electrical requirements, what couplers and regulators are included, warranty terms, and the exact model’s commercial certification or listing. Local acceptance can depend on jurisdiction.
- Total cost: Compare the installed setup, including any required draft components, delivery, and service needs. Prices and inventory change, so check current seller listings.
Five commercial kegerator picks by use case
The categories below are attributed to WebstaurantStore’s guide updated July 22, 2026. The available evidence does not establish complete specifications for every model, so use the names to guide your comparison—not as a substitute for current manufacturer documentation.

Beverage-Air BM23HC-B: single-keg service
WebstaurantStore identifies this as its single-keg pick. It is the category to investigate if your operation primarily needs one keg ready to pour. Before ordering, verify the current tap configuration, keg fit, external dimensions, and required installation clearances for the exact model.
Beverage-Air DD68HC-1-C-B: dual-tap service
The guide names this its dual-tap pick. A dual-tap setup can suit a menu that needs two selections available at once, but the tap count alone does not tell you how many kegs the cabinet holds. Match the model’s documented keg capacity to your turnover and replenishment plan.

Beverage-Air DD48HC-1-B: space-saving option
The guide highlights this as its space-saving pick. Measure the actual opening and surrounding service area rather than relying on a nominal width. Include the clearances specified for the unit so ventilation and access are not compromised.

Avantco UDD-1-HC: budget option
The guide names this its budget pick. Compare the total installed cost, not just the unit price: included draft components, required accessories, warranty, availability, and commercial certification for the exact SKU can affect the final decision.
Plan the layout and chilling setup
Direct-draw and back-bar systems locate the keg and tap differently, which affects counter space, staff movement, and where the kegs must be stored. The comparison guide describes direct-draw units as holding kegs in the cabinet below the taps, while back-bar units place taps at the counter and kegs behind. Neither layout is universally better; assess it against your floor plan and service routine.

Allow air to circulate around kegs in the cabinet. Avantco’s Kegerator Beer Dispensers Buying Guide (May 2025) warns that poor circulation can make cabinet temperatures warmer and adversely affect service. That guide recommends allowing at least 24 hours for kegs to reach dispensing temperature. Check the selected unit’s current manual and operating conditions for specific setup guidance.
