For a conventional picture frame, “scroll” means decorative scrollwork carved or molded into the frame’s molding. It does not mean a magnetic poster hanger: that product grips a print at its edges and does not enclose or protect it. Choose an ornate frame by the artwork’s visible opening, overall dimensions, finish, materials, glazing and hanging hardware—not by appearance alone.
What counts as a scroll picture frame?
Scrollwork is a decorative motif, often paired with gilded finishes or beaded details. Some profiles are relatively restrained; Baroque frames tend toward more dramatic shapes and may combine scrolls with foliage. Not every ornate scroll frame is Baroque.
There is no documented head-to-head test establishing one scroll frame as the best. The available product listings show different styles and configurations, so the useful choice depends on the artwork, room and fit requirements.

How to choose the right conventional frame
Measure the art and opening
Measure the artwork itself, then compare those dimensions with the frame’s stated image size and visible or mat opening. The opening is what remains visible once the art is mounted; it can be smaller than the nominal frame size. In Hobby Lobby’s example, a 10 × 8 inch frame size has a 9.5 × 7.5 inch mat opening. Check the outer dimensions separately to confirm the frame will fit the wall space.

Check the profile and finish
Compare the frame’s profile width and depth with the scale of the artwork and the wall. A strongly carved or Baroque profile makes a more assertive decorative statement than a simpler scroll design. Gold, silver, black and painted finishes are among the kinds of choices to look for; confirm the specific color and finish on the current listing rather than assuming a style name determines them.
Confirm construction, glazing and hardware
Product details are not category-wide standards. The Hobby Lobby frame listing specifies MDF and glass, plus two sawtooth hangers; another ornate frame may use different materials, glazing or hardware. Before ordering, check the listing for the frame material, whether glazing is included, the hanging hardware, and whether the frame can be hung in the orientation you need.

Choose stock or made-to-measure sizing
A ready-made frame can work when its opening matches the art and its outer size suits the space. If the artwork is an unusual size, a made-to-measure ornate frame is an option. Compare the custom frame’s dimensions, profile, finish and materials before placing an order.

Hanger Frames uses “Scroll Picture Frame” for a magnetic wooden poster hanger that grips thin, flexible paper or fabric along its edges. It is not a conventional frame: the seller says it does not protect the art and does not recommend it for fragile, expensive or irreplaceable pieces. For this hanger format only, Hanger Frames advises: “Measure the horizontal width of your print (the vertical length does not matter).” Its product page also advises allowing roughly one inch of overhang.
