La Feria De Diseño Medellín 2026 brought more international trade delegations, buyers and design professionals to Medellín, but its figures show expanded access and business interest—not proof of completed export deals. The 13th edition, held at Plaza Mayor Medellín from September 10–12, reported 167 exhibitors, more than 285 brands and 18,522 fair visitors. Its clearest legacy is a stronger platform for connecting Colombian design with overseas markets and project buyers.
What changed at the 2026 fair?
La Feria De Diseño Medellín powered by idd cologne ran for three days at Plaza Mayor Medellín. The event recap, published October 5, 2026, reports more than 22,000 participants when related city events are counted alongside the exhibition. That broader figure is not the same as attendance at the fair itself: Revista Ambientes reported 18,522 fair visitors.
The organizer’s recap reports 167 exhibitors and more than 285 brands, including 37 international brands, across four pavilions and experience areas. Those totals indicate the scale of the event as reported by its organizers; they were not independently audited. La Feria De Diseño’s official site lists the next edition for September 16–18, 2027, in Medellín.
How did the fair connect Colombia to new markets?
The most concrete sign of expanded international reach was the first organized participation by delegations from Spain, Brazil and Italy. These were structured showcases supported by trade-promotion or industry organizations, rather than simply a count of individual foreign visitors.

- Spain: Seven companies presented in a pavilion of more than 145 square metres organized by ICEX through Interiors from Spain. ICEX independently confirmed the Spanish pavilion and participating companies.
- Brazil: Forty-eight companies were associated with Brazilian Furniture; 15 brands exhibited in Espaço Brasil.
- Italy: Ten brands participated with support from ITA – Italian Trade Agency under the Made in Italy: The Shape of a Culture initiative.
The delegations matter because trade-promotion support can make it easier for brands and buyers to meet around distribution, product specification and projects. Their presence is evidence of organized access and relationship-building, not evidence that any particular meeting resulted in an export order.
What business activity did the fair report?
Revista Ambientes reported that the business-matching round brought together 85 buyers and 115 supplier companies for 496 meetings—about 41% more meetings than in 2025. It also reported COP 81,920.9 million, approximately USD 27 million, in business intentions. That amount describes stated intentions, not completed transactions, audited revenue or guaranteed future sales.

The fourth Latin American Design and Business Encounter added a professional program focused on specification, decision-making, hospitality, contract work and project development. Its reported participation exceeded 130 active participants from 13 countries, with 17 curated speakers. These subjects help explain the fair’s relevance beyond retail: they connect product makers with professionals who shape choices for buildings, interiors and hospitality projects.
Which sectors and audiences did the event bring together?
The fair covered furniture, kitchens, lighting and technology, wellness and outdoor products, architecture, workspace solutions and contract-market products. Its exhibitor mix and business programming could therefore be relevant to architects, interior designers, developers, distributors and hospitality buyers—not only people shopping for home furnishings.

The official exhibitor information frames participation around reaching professionals and buyers. The event’s reported activity offers a view of that business-facing role, though attendance and meeting totals alone do not establish the quality or commercial outcome of those contacts.
How did the fair extend beyond the exhibition halls?
The organizer’s recap describes satellite programming at design studios, shops, galleries, restaurants and hotels around Medellín. Creadores selected 23 projects from more than 140 submissions, while Futura Lab offered children and families hands-on opportunities to explore design through experimentation and learning.

The academic program reportedly drew 3,982 attendees and 60 speakers from 14 countries across Charlas Perpetuas x Bodega/Comfama and Talks by Universidad EIA. Speakers named in the recap included Humberto Campana, Felipe Pantone, Juan Montoya, Cazú Zegers, Stefano Giovannoni, Mauricio Rocha, Giancarlo Mazzanti, Adriana Hoyos and Zanini de Zanine. Together, the city events and talks made the fair more than an exhibition-floor gathering, linking professional discussion with public-facing design activity.

The reported figures point to growing reach: organized participation from three countries, a substantial exhibitor and brand roster, and more buyer-supplier meetings than the previous year. They support describing the fair as a regional meeting point that is working to connect Colombian design with international brands and project markets.

They do not establish that the fair caused lasting market growth, that stated business intentions became sales, or that every company gained new customers. Attendance, exhibitor and program totals come from event or trade coverage and should be read as reported figures. The distinction matters for anyone evaluating the fair as a business channel: it creates opportunities to meet and present work, while commercial outcomes depend on what happens after those introductions.
