The new stop is on Sound Transit’s existing Lynnwood Link corridor between Northgate and Shoreline South/148th; the neighborhood work around it is focused on safer ways to reach the station by bus, foot, bike, and wheelchair. SDOT’s access guide dated September 25, 2026, lists some safety changes as complete, other projects as under construction, and several walkway and bikeway projects as coming soon.
What opened at Pinehurst Station
Pinehurst Station is part of the existing Lynnwood Link light rail corridor, not a new rail extension. Sound Transit’s September 30 opening announcement says trains can arrive as frequently as every four minutes. Its project page describes peak service as every four to six minutes, so the exact frequency depends on the agency’s service framing and operating schedule.
The station is at 130th Street and 5th Avenue NE. It includes a drop-off loop, bike lockers, dedicated paratransit access, and artwork by Romson Bustillo. Sound Transit lists 2,600–4,200 daily boardings as a planning estimate, not a count of riders after opening. Its project page also lists 15 minutes to Westlake and 53 minutes to Sea-Tac Airport Station; these are agency travel-time figures, not guaranteed journey times.
How to reach the station by bus
Route 77
SDOT’s September 25 access guide lists Route 77 stops at 130th Street and 5th Avenue NE for eastbound service and at Roosevelt Way NE and 5th Avenue NE for westbound service. The route connects Bitter Lake, Roosevelt Station, the U District, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Complete: N 130th Street Vision Zero Safety Corridor
SDOT marks the corridor changes from 1st Avenue NE to Stone Avenue N complete. The redesign reduced the number of car lanes from four to three, lowered the posted speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph, added protected bike lanes, and introduced turning restrictions. The city says the project responded to crash-data analysis involving people walking and biking. The design changes alone do not establish whether crash rates have fallen.

SDOT describes a package of bus stops and bus-only lanes, protected bike lanes, sidewalk repairs, improved crossings, and street redesign. It also includes a roundabout at Roosevelt Way NE and 10th Avenue NE, with flashing crossing beacons and curb-protected bike lanes.

Additional speed-cushion work
SDOT search-indexed information describes plans for four speed cushions on 15th Avenue NE between Northgate Way and NE 115th Street, with construction expected in late 2026. Because the project page was not directly available, treat the detail and schedule as provisional and verify them with SDOT.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the city is building these connections
SDOT says the projects are intended to make station access safer and easier for people walking, biking, rolling, and taking transit. The city says community outreach and transportation planning studies for Pinehurst and Shoreline South/148th identified safer access for people of all ages and abilities as a priority. Sound Transit says Pinehurst Station was advanced from a 2031 target through board actions in 2020 and 2022. These are agency descriptions of purpose and planning, not evidence of measured safety or ridership outcomes.
What the published figures do—and do not—show
Sound Transit’s estimated 2,600–4,200 daily boardings are a forecast on the project page, not actual post-opening ridership. Likewise, the project-page travel times and the opening announcement’s most-frequent service figure describe agency-provided service information; real trips depend on the schedule and operating conditions. SDOT’s lane and speed-limit changes describe the completed design, not a measured change in crashes. Use live agency information for current service and construction conditions.
