To comment on the Tucson Sector secondary barrier project in Arizona, CBP’s project update lists an October 12, 2026 deadline and says comments can be sent to [email protected] or submitted by phone at (833) 412-2056. The instructions ask emailers to use “Tucson Sector Secondary Barrier Construction” as the subject. Check the project materials before sending: the deadline and submission details can change.
How do I submit a comment on the border wall?
For the Arizona project, use the contact methods and project reference listed in CBP’s Tucson Sector project update. The update specifies an email address, phone number and email subject line; follow those instructions so your comment is associated with the right project.
- Open the Tucson Sector project materials and confirm that the comment period is still open and the submission details remain current.
- Send an email to [email protected], using “Tucson Sector Secondary Barrier Construction” as the subject, or call (833) 412-2056.
- Describe the project-related information or concern you want CBP to consider. Keep the comment specific and explain how it connects to the proposed construction or its effects.
CBP says its environmental-planning process seeks information about possible effects on the environment, habitat, wildlife, culture, quality of life and commerce, including socioeconomic impacts. Its Environmental Management page says: “If you have data or information that can inform our environmental planning, we want to hear from you!”
What is the deadline?
CBP’s Tucson project update lists October 12, 2026. As of October 7, 2026, that date is upcoming but only days away. Because the update could not be fully reviewed and submission deadlines are time-sensitive, confirm the date in the official project materials before submitting.

What should I include in a comment?
Make the comment relevant to the specific project and useful to the agency’s planning. You can identify a potential impact, provide information or data, and explain why it matters. CBP’s environmental-planning page describes the topics it considers, including environmental, wildlife, cultural, quality-of-life and commerce effects.
- Name the project you are addressing.
- State the concern or information clearly and connect it to the proposed work.
- Include relevant supporting details or data, if you have them.
The available instructions do not establish a required comment format or guarantee how CBP will use any individual submission. Do not assume a general objection alone will address the project-specific issues under review.

Are other border construction comment periods open?
CBP’s Environmental Management page lists separate items under “Documents Open for Comment,” including a California secondary-barrier update, a New Mexico secondary-barrier update and two Texas environmental assessments. These are distinct projects; their deadlines and submission instructions may differ from Arizona’s. Open the relevant entry and use that project’s own notice and materials.
CBP says its environmental planning typically includes 30- to 60-day public comment periods and may involve an Environmental Assessment (EA) or Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) under NEPA. The agency also notes that, for some projects, the DHS Secretary may waive certain environmental laws, including NEPA, under section 102(c) of IIRIRA. The applicable review document and any waiver status are project-specific, so check the notice for the project you intend to address.

Keep project notices separate
A Federal Register notice dated October 2, 2026 concerns barriers and roads in New Mexico and a DHS waiver determination. It is separate from the Tucson Sector project update. Use each notice only for the location and project it covers; do not apply Arizona’s deadline or contact details to a California, New Mexico or Texas project.
