The contractor-side explanation and a proposed start after Dashain–Tihar were statements reported at that time—not confirmation that work later began.
Which bridge is involved?
The project is a motorable bridge over Tap Khola in Khotang district, Koshi Province. It connects Pathheka in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-10 with Khartamchha in Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality-2. The Koshi Province Infrastructure Development Office’s tender notice identifies it as the Tap Khola Motorable Bridge on the Patekha–Tap Khola–Shanibare–Khartanchha road.
The tender notice describes a rebid under contract ID IDO/KTG/NCB/W-10/082/83 and was published on 1 January 2026. It corroborates the procurement history, but does not establish the later contract details or construction status reported in October.
What did Kantipur report about the agreement and delay?
Kantipur reported on 5 October 2026 that the bridge is a prestressed structure with a reported project cost of NPR 72,244,000. It said Susham Aditya Bijay Nirman Sewa, based in Gaighat, Udaypur, had signed an agreement with the Infrastructure Development Office, Khotang, on 8 Falgun 2082. The reported completion deadline was 8 Falgun 2084. These dates are retained in the Bikram Sambat calendar as published; they are not converted here.

The same report said construction had not started by its publication date, approximately eight months after the agreement. That is a status reported by Kantipur, not a later or independently verified progress update.
What explanation and response were reported?
Contractor-side account
Mahesh Regmi, described by Kantipur as involved in construction, attributed the delay to an election soon after the agreement and the subsequent monsoon. He said the plan was to begin after Dashain–Tihar and finish before the contract period ended. This is the construction-side account reported by the newspaper; the available evidence does not independently establish the causes or confirm that the proposed start took place.

Local concern and office response
Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality vice-chair Gururaj Rai expressed concern that the bridge might not be completed on time. Infrastructure Development Office chief Binam Dahal said the office would write to urge action if work still had not started after Dashain–Tihar. The report described a possible future follow-up, not a letter already sent.

The latest status established by these sources is the one Kantipur reported on 5 October 2026: work had not begun by that date. The tender notice, published earlier, documents the rebid but says nothing about subsequent progress. No later official progress record is established here, so neither a later start nor continued inactivity can be stated as fact.
