DelDOT announced that Nassau Road between Queen Anne Way and New Road would close starting Tuesday, October 6, 2026, for construction of a new roundabout. The closure was expected to last through mid-January 2027, weather permitting. The work is part of the SR 1 Minos Conaway Road Separated Intersection Project.
Where and when is Nassau Road closed?
The announced closure covers Nassau Road between Queen Anne Way and New Road in Lewes. DelDOT’s September 28, 2026 notice set the start for Tuesday, October 6, and said the closure was expected to continue through mid-January 2027, weather permitting. That is an estimated construction window, not a guaranteed reopening date. DelDOT’s closure notice
The announcement establishes the planned schedule, not the road’s live status. Check for a current DelDOT update before relying on the closure dates, particularly if traveling after the announced work window.
What is the closure for?
Crews are constructing a roundabout at the Nassau Road intersection. DelDOT identifies the work as part of the SR 1 Minos Conaway Road Separated Intersection Project. The project’s broader planning history includes a conceptual Nassau roundabout in the December 2019 New Road Corridor Master Plan; that historical concept does not establish whether the current design is identical.
