Jeddah Tower’s latest progress figures do not establish that it has reached 474 metres. In a report published on 6 October 2026, MEED attributed to Jeddah Economic Company CEO Fabien Toscano a late-September status of floor 116 and approximately 466 metres above sea level. A separate report gives approximately 474 metres at Level 118, but the discrepancy has not been independently resolved.
What the latest reported construction figures say
The two October 2026 updates give different floor counts and heights. Their dates, attribution and measurement details matter: the 474-metre figure should not be presented as a confirmed project milestone or combined with the other report’s floor count.

MEED also quoted Toscano saying, “The tower is moving at full speed, and we are making strong progress, so we’re very happy with that.” His interview is the basis for the 466-metre, floor-116 update; it is not independent surveying of the height.
Why the 474-metre claim is not settled
The reports differ by roughly eight metres and two levels, and the information available here does not explain whether that comes from separate observation dates, measurement conventions or another reporting difference. The 474-metre figure is therefore best treated as a claim made by Construction Review Online—not as a verified height. The stronger attributed update found in the dated reports is Toscano’s late-September figure of about 466 metres above sea level.

Height references also matter in construction reporting. The MEED account specifies “above sea level”; the Construction Review Online article reports approximately 474 metres but does not provide a matching reference in the available account. Without a common reference and independently reconciled floor count, the numbers cannot be treated as directly comparable measurements.
What the completion contract and schedule establish
A Kingdom Holding Company disclosure on the Saudi Exchange dated 2 October 2024 records an agreement to complete the tower valued at SAR 7.2 billion. It says approximately SAR 1.1 billion had already been paid for construction work completed before that agreement, and gives an anticipated construction period of 42 months. At the time of the announcement, 63 of the planned 157 floors were complete.

The $2.1 billion wording appears in Construction Review Online’s headline, not as the contract-value wording in the exchange disclosure. The primary disclosure states the amount in Saudi riyals; these figures should not be conflated or presented as though the disclosure itself quoted a dollar contract.
Completion forecasts also vary by source and date. MEED’s 6 October 2026 report says completion is due in 2028 and reports JEC’s intention to release residential units in 2027. The CTBUH Skyscraper Center project record lists 2030 as the expected completion year. These are different published forecasts, not a single reconciled schedule. The 42-month period in the 2024 disclosure is an anticipated construction period, not itself confirmation of a completion date.

Who is building the tower and what it is designed to contain
Saudi Binladin Group’s project page identifies Jeddah Economic Company as the client and says SBG is carrying out the main construction works. Kingdom Holding Company’s exchange disclosure identifies JEC as its associate.
SBG describes the project as a mixed-use tower with approximately 530,000 square metres of built-up area. Planned uses include residential, office, hospitality and retail space, as well as an observation deck. The reported progress is therefore construction of a large mixed-use development, not only a race to reach a particular height.

Does 474 metres mean the tower is near halfway?
That conclusion cannot be confirmed from the reported height alone. The 474-metre figure is unresolved, and the sources cited here do not provide a consistent measurement basis alongside a final-height figure that would allow a reliable halfway calculation. Floor 116 of the planned 157 floors is a separate measure of vertical progress; floor count does not by itself establish the share of total height completed, because floor heights can differ.
For readers tracking progress, the most precise current formulation is to state the source and its date: MEED reported that JEC’s CEO put the tower at floor 116 and about 466 metres above sea level in late September 2026, while Construction Review Online separately reported Level 118 and about 474 metres on 6 October. Until the figures are reconciled, neither “474 metres confirmed” nor “near halfway” is established by these updates alone.

Other progress figures reported by JEC’s CEO
In the same MEED interview, Toscano said more than 6,000 workers were on the tower each day and that the project had passed 20 million hours without a lost-time incident. These are figures attributed to the company CEO in that report; they are not presented as independently audited statistics.
